Strength:
storage capacity....better looking than comparible mega-changers.
Weakness:
like all of these big units....takes time to load 200 cd's. when i first bought this unit, i was comparing it to the sonys. though the guts of this unit are sony, i bought this one on the better apperance and the nakamichi name. i believe i made the right decision. having a jukebox at your disposal is a great thing. never have had any type of misloading or any other problems at all with this unit. it cant have 5 stars but nothing in the mega-changers can. an all around practical idea and a well worth one. This unit is a 200 disk changer. It looks to be the same unit as the Sony CDP-CX205. Since we have only one radio station where I live I like the ability of the player to play for long periods of time with out attention. I purchased the set at Best Buy where it was sold side by side with the Sony. I liked the Nakamichi's larger control buttons so I picked it. I have had it a month and it .has preformed flawlessly. My only complaint about the operation is that it is a little noisy when changing disks but this is only a noticeable problem when in the shuffle mode because it changes disks between most tracks. The main thing I dislike is the design of the Remote Control Unit. The buttons are all grey, except for a red power button. These buttons are very small and one has to look at the markings because there is very little difference in their location and size. The Play and stop buttons should be much bigger and distinctive. I would also like to see the Enter button larger and a different color. The power indicator lamp on the player is on when the set is off, I would just as soon it wasn't. The books that come with the set to place the cd booklets in, is kind of cheap. I would like to see a hard back book, possibly a three ring binder where one could move the pages around rather than moving all the booklets if you would like to move one of the disks. It plays one disk that other players have had trouble playing without skipping. I would buy it again and like it fine. |

ive now owned this player for a couple of months. one of the first realizations that i had is that you are basically paying for cd storage with these large changers. though it has worked fine, i still miss some of the features of my 5-disc player.....though it is nice not having to change discs all of the time. the cdc-300 is big and bulky, and kind of dwarfs some of your other components. as well, loading this full with 200 cd's can take out a chunk of your day. this model is the same player as the sony cdp-cx205 exept for a different faceplate and remote. however, you will be paying around $20 more for the nakamichi name. overall, i am basically happy with this unit. however, for $300 i could have gotten a better cd PLAYER.....not just something to hold all of my cd's in. |

Although hardly an audiophile piece, the Nakamichi (Sony) CDC-300 serves a purpose. The ability to eat 200 CDs is pretty handy and have them at ready access without dust getting to em. |

It's really hard to rate this unit. For function, it serves its purpose very well. For sound, it leaves much to be desired. I've had this unit for about 1 year now and have tried different component configurations with it (receivers, speakers). Transport system is noisey and the remote control leaves a lot to be desired. On the plus side, it has been reliable and can read CD's that my HK FL8300 will not (when its not out for repair).Overall, I'd give it a 4 as I doubt if there are any mega changers that are worthy of a 5. |
