I received my PD-F19 last night, connected it via coax to one of the digital inputs of my Elite VSX-26TX receiver, and was thrilled by the results. The sound was incredible! My CD's sounded very open and detailed, with excellent bass performance. I can't comment on analog sound quality as some have, with the excellent DAC's on the 26TX I wasn't about to use the analog outputs for anything!
A few observations: The remote is indeed tiny, altough functional (I will be programming my receiver's remote to handle all of the PD-F19 functions, so no problems there); The limit of 12 characters for the artist name, and 12 characters for the CD title really is a minor issue for me. I had NO problem creating easily understandable entries (using a keyboard of course!). I used all caps for artist names and lowercase for titles; The sheer speed of the mechanism is incredible. I never expected it to go from playing one CD to loading and playing another CD so fast; As for looks, the jukebox simply looks fantastic sitting there under my receiver!

In my mind this jukebox rates a 5!

I've had this player for about two months now, and like the posts below,I'll say I love this player. It's hooked up through a Denon 1700AVR, playing
through SuperZero FL/FR/SL/SR and a NHT 1.2a center with a Paradigm sub.
301 disks is great, and entering them in on the keyboard is a synch (don't like
the 12 letter limit). It picked up CD_TEXT disks no prob..

It sounds nice (not too bright, not too "electronically"), and better than the Sony multi-disc's (don't go for 200 anyways.. you'll fill it quick!) Just gotta
hear it really, people's taste in sound is different, as you all know...

SNR 105db/THD 0.003%, 20bit DAC's with optical/coax outs. 2 yr parts/labor,
nice finish and looks beautiful. See: www.pioneerelectronics.com/elite/pd-f19.htm

Won't go wrong with it...

Strength:

Coolest 300 cd player on the planet

Anyone that buys a cd changer and expects great sound needs to have his head examined.
Cd changers are good as transports only.
Use a quality DAC via its Digital Coax
and the sound will be as good as the DAC.
If you use a Great DAC, you get Great sound, get it?
Optical cables are worthless.
This is the BEST 300 CD changer for the money. The sony changers are garbage.

I was excited when I first read about the PD-F19. However, once I bought it, and got it home. I was disappointed with its sound.
The build quality, looks, and features are great. However, when I did A/B comparisons between my current CD player, and the PD-F19, I noticed the following sound artifacts on the PD-F19:
- Although it "claims" to have a signal-to-noise ratio of 105 dB, it has a NOTICEABLE 'hiss' noise. It is almost as if you were listening to a cassette player. However, I was using the digital output of the PD-F19!.
- The female voices sound "muffled" and not as clear as in my current CD player.

Hence, although I really wanted to like the unit, I knew that if I kept it, I would be taking some of my favorite CDs out of the PD-F19 to listen them in my better CD player. Needless to say, I ended up returning the PD-F19 to the store.

My ratings are:
Features: 5 stars
Looks: 5 stars
quality of sound: 1 star

Since the sound is more important to me that the other features, I am forced to give it ....
