Very good sound quality, optical digital output, 101 Disc capacity, under $200

Doesn't recognize discs by name when moved, no keyboard input

Best 100+ CD changer available for under $200. Great sound quality and an optical digital output for inputting to a CD recorder is also a big plus.

Remote is WAY too tiny.

Well, it was my own fault. I tried aa
Technics because it was smaller (fit better
into my cabinet). Boy, did I regret that! I
reurned the technics "junk-box" and bought
this Pioneer. Fully pleased with the sound
quality, quietness of operation, speed of
changing discs, everything but the remote.
Here's a hint to those of you considering
this unit. I have a Radio Shack (yes, Radio
Shack) 6 in 1 learning remote. The model is 15-1994. I bought it for $29.95. Teach this
remote what you need from the Pioneer
remote and save your eyesight. This is the
most amazing learning remote I have ever
used. It has been able to operate every
feature of my Denon, Hitachi, Sony, JVC and
Pioneer components. Incredible!

Hooked up to Pioneer VSX-D557,KLH Theater 5 speakers with Infinity B-120

Remote very difficult to see in dim light,not difficult to program titles but time comsuming.

Recently purchased the Pioneer PDF-958
instead of the PDF-1007,price lower and in my case only needed 100 CD cap.

The PD-958 is not recommended. The sound quality is fine, the other features are not well thought out. You can teach the 958 which tracks you prefer to listen to, but if you go to a disc and select it to play the favorites, it jumps to the last favorite track on someother disc because the logic cant play your favotites on the present disc, why bother selecting your favorite tracks? stupid feature. The text titles only have 8 characters, so if you have many CD's of the same artist, good luck. Once you load the disc's, don't move them. This unit memorizes title by disc location only, if you move the disc, the title remains with the slot#... real stupid, my Sony samples the disc and will move the title with the disc and will play your favorites on the selected disc. Oh, but the 958 will memorize the last 20 or so tracks that you played so you can go back and hear them again, what a useless feature. I wish it would just play the favorites on the disc selected, the logic of the Pioneer 958 are the worst I have seen, one star here.

Sound quality is quite good and the design makes it pretty easy to load and unload discs. The disc titling features are a bit tough to use with no keyboard input, but that's really my only complaint with this player. For under $200 new, this is a hard CD changer to beat.

Excellent laser- Good Sound Reproduction

Confusing Remote-Remembers discs, so if you move them, it still remembers them to be in their old spot.

Alot better sound reproduction than the Sony and JVC.
Plays better than JVC or Sony for dirty scratched CD's.
Don't skip as much.
Easy to access your CD's
Stupid Remote Layout.

Actually for the price this is a very good unit with excellent sound. I have had the unit for 1 month and I really enjoy the sound.

I have it connected via it's analog cables to a Sony Receiver. I plan on getting a Pioneer receiver soon to connect it using the digital outputs.

Overall a solid unit.
