Have to agree with Willy on this one. I have used Marantz, Cal and Theta in the past and I would put this one right up there. For the price its a Knock Out! Mine is HDCD also. If you can get your hands on one you better at least give it a listen. I bought mine w/o hearing it and couldn't be happier! Built like a tank! ( not sure of the product Year)

Strength:

almost everything, top cd player for the value !

Weakness:

remote control is made of plastic and does not have connector for earphones

I bought this wonderfull cd player second hand for only 500 euro, this is a discontinued model from Rotel with a super sound, very good D/A convertor, a Buur Brown pcm 1732 ic mechanism, very advance and near high end for this price, also very good build, beautifull designed, much better than the super expensive Marantz cd 17 or cd 17 mk II which use the old mechanism 12.3 from Philips which is original designed for cd rom and not cd players !!! anyway this review is about Rotel which for his price is worth truly the money, i tried Mozart, Vivaldi, Schubert in classics and it is almost that i have them in my roon and the the pop music i have listened to Rick Wakeman, Enya and Earth Wind and Fire ans it sound super, i am very happy that i have this cd player, i used with a amplifier Marantz pm 14 Ki and speakers Linn.

I truly recomend this cd player us one of the best ever made !
