Build quality is incredible. Straight-forward, simple operation. Sound is neutral and uncolored. If you're looking for SAF (spousal acceptance factor), use the "good investment" angle. They can fetch more today than they did 3-4 years ago.

I got this a year ago on ebay and have loved it ever since. I replaced a newer Denon CD changer with this, and from a sound perspective the older Rotel takes the Denon out behind the wood shed and kicks its butt. I'm looking to do a mod, but don't want to use this beautiful machine as a guinea pig. It's only a testament to how well these things retain their value in that I can't seem to find an RCD 95x, 96x, or 97x for under 200 bucks. I'll keep my 961 in my system and keep searching.
