I bought this unit at the Hahn AB Electronics Sale, 31 May, 1990. The CDP played me through the rest of my tour in Germany, went with me to LAFB, migrating 3 times while in VA. Finally moving with me to PA, it saw me through my last 2 moves and at its' ripe old age of 20+, has played it's last CD. I bought a new multi-disk surround sound system and am VERY, VERY disappointed. I want my SONY CDP -C700 to be like new again. This was the best music-money I ever spent and would love to get this one "fixed". Are there doctors for this unit; are there hospitals for the surgery it needs. I am in dire need of this information. Is just any electronics repair shop good for a complete going-over and repair? I need help and refuse to bury this wonderful piece of equipment.. I would still recommend this CD Player to anyone , just as I have for so many years. It's may be old, but definitely worth keeping.

Strength:

Was great. Worked great for 10 years. First multi cd player I believe.

Weakness:

Mmm...crapped out kinda after 10 years - if you can call that a weakness. I think not...

My bro ordered this thing for me when I was in college (1989). He was working for CBS records, which Sony bought, and he got a deal. It was the first multi-disk cd player Sony offered as I recall. This beaut served me well for years - like 10. Started to get sensitive a few years ago to scratches, and finally just wacked out on me this year. I'm not audiophile enuff to compare to other cd players, but what can I say, this thing gave me years of enjoyment. Probably the best $300 I ever blew. My roomate just hooked me up w/new cd player that he never used for my birthday. He didn't have the remote - but my old one works on it. Talk about poetic. Thanx Sony...

I've got this unit for almost ten years. It used to be connected to a sony receiver, one that got high rate from Consumer Review then with also then decently rated Advent Legacy 2. Well, the receiver started humming a few years back and with all the workload I stopped using this cd player regularly. Recently, I upgraded the system with a Harman Kardon AVR 75 and Infinity Overture 3. I thought about upgrading the cd player, too, but after wiring it into the new systems, the sound just blew me away. I play Beethoven music and have the impression I am at the Chandler Pavillion. I think I will keep this unit until it stops working.
