I can't believe the CX-250 has so many bad comments on this site! I purchased one for a bargain price and the unit works fine. It never fail to read anyCD nor cause any machenic problem. It doesn't have a lot of functions like
some 6 disc or 5 disc CD changers do. The machenic noise is loud and disc
changing speed is not fast. But other than that. The CX-250 is still a good
value if you compare it with other Mega changers in the consumer market.

I purchased a CX200 for $200 at a local store a week ago. The main reason is for storage purpose (convenience) and I think that's why Sony made these 200-CD changers. The sound is what you can expected from a CD player (and I doubt most of listener can tell the difference from a high priced to a budget one like this if they do a side by side comparison. The technology is mature!). The noise is a bit too loud when changing discs. Another problem: dimension. The depth of the component is the large. Check your rack to see if it can fit. But for the convenience I cannot complain more. I have more than 400 CDs, mosetly classical music. Before I need to search a whole shelf to find a one I want, open the rack, open the CD player, remove the one inside and put it back to its case and put back on the shelf, then insert the new one, close the CD, close the rack.... My listening enjoyment was reduced a lot because of this lenthy process and I also missed some CD during the initial search. Now I put the most-listened ones in that player and I can easily access them. I still keep the single CD player for other CDs. I am happy with it. My next target is PSB Alpha speaker package.

This is one of the new 200 capacity cd players. They works great, but Sony needs to work on the ergonomics of the player some more.
CD's are a little difficult to get in and out and it's nearly
impossible to see the CD labels when the machine is loaded.
It supports 8 groups of disks, 3 programs. They could had made this
a little more flexible. The biggest drawback is entering the names
of the CD's into memory. You are only allowed 13 characters per
disk. Overall, I am happy with this purchase, but Sony needs to
work on it still.

I've owned this CD player for about four months now, and it has worked well for me. I absolutely love having so many CDs available so quickly! I'm considering buying another of the higher-end units for the 400-CD control, since I'm nearly out of slots in this one. Good: sound quality, nice remote, 200 CDs, ability to enter short strings for each CD. Bad: a little noisy switching CDs, takes a while to enter the strings for the CDs, and it is enormous (inevitable, I suppose, given how many CDs it holds). Overall, a very nice unit.
