I bought this player because of the convenience of the text remote and player. However, currently I'm on my third player because the two previous have broken. Both players previous stopped reading discs after about a month. Don't get me wrong, I like the player when it's working, but I just don't think it's well constructed. |

WHEN I FIRST STARTED USING THE UNIT ONE OF THE LETTERS WOULD NOT WORK. I TRIED DIFFERENT KEYBOARDS BUT FAILED. AT THE LOCAL STEREO STORE I TRIED AGAIN USING THE STORE PLAYER BUT FAILED AGAIN. AFTER LABELING 134th DISK THE LETTER "I" WOULD NOT WORK. O HAVE TO TURN THE DIAL EVERYTIME I HAVE TO TYPE THE LETTER "I".I DON'T WANT TO USE MY TIME TO GET IT REPAIRED, BUT I HAVE TO GO OUT ANYWAYS TO BUY A D/A CONVERTER. WELL, I THINK I'LL WAIT ABOUT A MONTH TO SEE IF THE SOUND IMPROVES AFRER THE BREAK IN PERIOD. |

I know this is kind of tacky, but I work at an electronics store. Anyway I've got a Sony CDPCX88ES for sale. Ive got it brand new and untouched and sealed in the box. I also happen to have the store warrany on the unit and it is covered for 6 years so you don't have to worry about any warranty or lack thereof from the "GRAY MARKET" internet dealers or Sony. Instead it's covered through a large west coast chain super store. Similar Products Used: CDPCX90ES |

Strength:
Mass disc storage, convenience, fairly quick disc access.
Weakness:
Very big component (460mm, ~19" deep!) - making it difficult to find suitable cabinets. Only 13 character disc title. Mechanisms are a little noisy. I bought this 200-disc unit when they were being phased out. The RRP was AU$1250 (US$690), the 300-disc unit was only AU$100 (US$55) more. I can see why nobody was buying the 200-disc model. I only bought it because it was half price. |

I bought this player one week ago from Crutchfield's scratch and dent on-line list and I've already returned it. Three times in two days, when I turned it on it refused to play. The last straw came when, later that night, it played disc 113 & displayed 78! And after I typed 158 disc titles in on that tiny remote keyboard(being a Mac user, my keyboard won't work). I feel silly that I didn't search for reviews first - which, strangely, I'm doing now after returning it. |

Strength:
The convenience of 200 discs on-line and the remote
Weakness:
Sometimes the remote drops the connection and commands will not get through I'm using it as a transport and I just love having all CD's so easily available. I have A/B tested the Sony changer against a Denon single CD at more than twice the price and I could not detect any difference in the sound, using them both as transports.
