Strength:
disc Capacity. Disc titling (although 13 characters is a bit limiting). Sound quality is decent.
Weakness:
Get's "Stuck" on during shuffle mode. Jammed with about 3 after purchased. Needs more than 13 character disc title. Overall I am pretty pleased with the sound. Although it IS a LITTLE bright on certain dics. The plastic front is a bit "cheap" for an ES model, and you wouldn't even be able to tell the difference betwen the standard SONY 300 disc player unless you looked closely. My one BIG problem with the machine is that it get's stuck during shuffle mode. It'll change to a disc and just keep trying to get it started, but just "hangs" there. This happens about 1 out of 10 times I use the machine, and it's NEVER on the same disc. ALSO, after about 3 weeks of use, a CD jammed in the player and was BROKEN when the tray attempted to spin. I had to remove the case and PRY the broken disc out. I also had to reconnect a small plastic piece that lines up the CD to be moved from the tray to the CD transport. I SHOULD have just returned the thing that day, but it's not happened since. Overall, the convenience of the 300 disc capacity outweighs all the problems, and the sound quality is as good as my old Denon changer, but no where NEAR my Sony 7700 DVD player. I may look into the Pioneer Elite 300 disc changer as a replacement. Similar Products Used: Denon DCM630 (7 years old) |

Strength:
Great Sound, Prefect integration with Sony 777es Receiver
Weakness:
Front panel is not metal as is the Sony es Receivers I got this unit for $395.00 from OADE.com I am very happy with this unit. The entire unit is quieter then previous units by sony. I have no problems getting all 300 cd names loaded in my new 777es receiver. I like everything about this unit except for the fact that the front face plate is plastic. Other sony es units (like the 777) are metal everywhere, even the knobs. I sounds great though, also has a 3 position digital filter than works! Like all the Sony ES line, this is a great product!!! Strength:
Decent sound (both digital and analog), 5 year warranty
Weakness:
Terrible technical support, slow disc access time (relative to Pioneer 300 disc changers), incompatibilites with TAE-9000es, build quality is not "ES" Were it not for the decent sound quality this unit would have few strengths. As mentioned in the previous post, the title download feature is not comaptible with many newer Sony ES preamps/recievers. I selected this unit over the 555es becuase I already own the TAE-9000es which uses a bi-di remote. I called Sony's support line 3 months ago and was told it should work but they would investigate. They never called back after two subsequent conversations. Sony confirmed a few days ago this feature will not work. Similar Products Used: Pioneer Elite 300 mega changer |

Strength:
Sound quality, 5 year warranty
Weakness:
Disc labeling limited to 13 characters I have to start off by saying that I only paid $329 for this unit (refurbished of course, but I still get the 5 year warranty, and there are absolutely no blemishes on this unit) at my local Sony outlet. When compared to the 300 or the 335 or 350 models the decision to buy the ES model was a no brainer. Similar Products Used: Onkyo 6 disc changer (six years old) |

Strength:
300 disc capacity, ease of inserting/removing discs, cross-fade ability with other Sony multi-disc players
Weakness:
Serious skipping problem, lacks many of the features which makes the CX90ES great. I bought this player to daisy-chain to my CX90ES so I can store 500 CD's and cross-fade between the players. First of all, I must say that the 90ES is a definately more impressive machine. It's more expensive, but for good reason. It lets you program the names of album title, artist title AND up to 16 song titles for each of your 200 discs. The 333ES only lets you program one line of information for a disc. However, the 300 capacity and speed of the carousel is an extreme draw over the 90ES, but here's the big problem that prompted me to write in: Similar Products Used: CDP-CX90ES |

I had the cdpcx200 and the sound was pretty bad, sounded like a portable transport. I had replaced an older JVC 2 pc 100 disc unit that sounded pretty good, neither sounds as good as this ES unit and you can fit in an extra 100 discs to boot. I wish they would let you program more than 32 songs per program though, the only drawback I see. |

Strength:
High Capacity
Weakness:
Build quality lower than one woud expect for ES Gear I recently purchaced this CD player to replace an older 5-disc sony cd player. In general I would say this is a very good high capacity player. The sound quality is very good, and the D/A converters are solid. I actually prefer this player's D/A over my receiver's D/A (Sony STR-DA333ES). The 300 Disc capacity should handle most collections, if not you can link another one. Keyboard input is also a very nice feature. I was able to get about 150 disks in in about 45 minutes. The remote is not bad, but I definately prefer using the control A1II port to my receiver, which allows me to download CD titles to my 2-way receiver remote. If you dont have this capability, then the CDP-CX555ES is probably more user friendly. Similar Products Used: Sony CDP-CX835 about 1993 model |

Strength:
Capacity I have this CD player teamed up with my Sony STR-DA555ES receiver and it it great. The capacity should be enough to satisfy most people. If you need more then another 300 disc chsnger can be linked up for more capacity. The keyboard input is great time saver for inputting the names of each CD. The sound is great and the remote is very functional. I use the remote from my 555ES receiver since it downloads the CD name and you simply touch the name of CD you want and it starts playing. The groups, hit lists and "don't play list" are very helpful in listening to just what you want to hear. The only difference in the CDP-CX333ES and the CDP-CX555ES is the remote. The 555 has a two way remote. The CD player specs are the same. |
