These are cheap plastic and prone to break I have looked at both this model and the ES models if you want quality equipment stay away! Sony makes some good products but this is not one of them.

I examined this product at a retail store. Unfortunately, it lack the Track Memo feature Sony (still, as of 7/17/99) advertises on its Web site. Contrary to Sony's own Web site, this unit does not have Track Memo, an important feature when you have 300 CDs. This seems a glaring omission, and Sony has yet (as of today) to fix its error.

Hi out there !
I am agree with Keith !! If you have 2 Players from this type there will be
no time to wait ! If the first player play a song the other will search the
next cd !! I will give 4 Stars, because of the small display !

Although my receiver and the 6 disk CD player are Pioneer, I chose the Sony product because of an INCREDIBLE remote control. It's LCD display makes it super easy to get the most out of the player. Pioneer remote controls simply s-u-c-k. Although you cannot program individual tract titles, you can DELETE the ones you don't like from ever playing, another incredibly useful feature. As mentioned in other reviews there is room for improvement, but it is well made. I have not experienced any problems in the 24 hour a day 30 day burn in period.
I'm giving it 5 stars for the best effort in the currently available players

AWESOME!! Fantastic Remote!! The best I have ever seen. Nice big display bright and very easy to read. Tremendous sound quality and versatility. Keyboard input is Great.
A couple drawbacks is why this dont get 5 stars.
1) You can not see how much time is remaining on the track, just the playing time. Important to me because I do alot of receording!!
2) A little slow changing discs but bareable.
3) CD-Text Discs can not be changed on the display. You have to look at the album title which stinks when you have alot of CDs.

I have 2 suggestions for this unit.
1) an Album title like Pioneer has, very good feature.
2) 2 digital outs. 1 for receiver other for MD. Alot of Top end receivers dont have a digital out unless you spend $1500 plus. Even Cheaper Receivers have an optical out.

If it had #1 in bad points and #2 in suggestions it would get 10 stars in my opinion.

I have to say that this is one heck of a system!!! The remote control is something out of the future. Sony did a great job stuffing all the features into this one....that is except for one MAJOR thing: Track Memo. Where is it? I contacted Sony through thier web site and they said that they are in the process of fixing the information on the site to reflect the actual specs. I removed a star for the lack of this feature. This is the only gripe that I have about this fine system.

I like this unit very much so far. I have 2 of them hooked up together (very easy to do so) so my delay between CDs is now exactly 0. The cross-fading functions are very cool too.
The R/C can download the titles from the CDs in both CD players together, and you can easily scan single or combined lists.

Only downsides:
- I can't seem to queue up a 'Next CD' with the R/C, just at the console
- Getting the players to alternate from one CD to another at the END of the CD, rather than the end of the track, is difficult, and I don't always set it up right - which is very frustrating
- Setting up programs is not very graceful, even compared to older Sony CD players
- Track programming would be nice, although CD-Text CDs do download track info to the R/C, which is fun

If you have a lot of CDs and don't want to ever have to load/unload them into your player(s), I highly recommend this unit.

I'd give it 5 stars, but the lack of next-CD queueing ability is really really annoying to me and my 'listening preferences', so it's down to 4.

I'm in the process of evaluating Sony vs. Pioneer CD Jukebox. The Sony (CPD-350CX) is a 300 disc changer and the Pioneer (PDF-1007) is a 300+1 changer. I actually purchased both so I could compare them side-by-side and will return one before the 30 day money back guarantee. It is so hard to make a decision as they each have features I want and each has missing features but neither has everything. Does anyone know anything about these beasts or have any opinions regarding Sony vs. Pioneer?
Thanks, Goody

Wow, FAILED right out of the box. Would not even load a disk. Spent two days working on various combination, but couldn't get it to work at all. I am not a Sony basher. I have actually been kind of fond of their products. But having a unit failed right out of the box is inexcuseable. I was even planning to purchase a Sony equalizer, but now am having major second thought. Heard through the grapevine that the CX260/270 were discontinued due to quality problems with all the returns. Figure they would get their act together with the 300 series, but - what a nightmare.
If you are going to buy one, save your receipt!!

Zero stars!!

I know this is kind of tacky, but I work at an electronics store. Anyway I've got a Sony CDPCX88ES for sale. Ive got it brand new and untouched and sealed in the box. I also happen to have the store warrany on the unit and it is covered for 6 years so you don't have to worry about any warranty or lack thereof from the "GRAY MARKET" internet dealers or Sony. Instead it's covered through a large west coast chain super store.

Its a great unit but I've now decided to build a Denon system instead of Sony. I'm asking $500 for this BRAND NEW PLAYER, but I might be interested in "wheeling and dealing".

Its a 200 disk ES changer, with Sony's patented "current pulse D/A converter". It also has a 2 way remote with led screen, and has an optical output.
