Sonys ES entry 200 changer. I've had it a few months now and it is great. Replaced a Marantz single player. Bought home this and a Denon 560. The Denon was very compressed sounding, also very noisy tray. I have lots of cdr's some of which caused the Marantz to stumble but the Sony plays every one. 5 year warranty on the ES line is nice too. You can find this online for about $500. |

Sounds okay, possibly overly sweet and rolled off for most audiophiles, but |

This unit sounds good. I wanted a decent sounding 200 cd player with custom file and the ability to delete unwanted tracks. Programming the titles, organizing groups, and deleting tracks required several days. What a grind! The ES player with a keyboard input cost several hundred dollars more. Recently turned down a 80 ES player new in the box for $249 because I new the programming would be such a hassle. This unit is very dumb, (can only delete, not select track order, also does not remember disc, only the slot number location, unlike my 9 year old sony CPD C70 5 disc). Once set up it's ok, a little noisy and slow. Prehaps the newer units have gotten smarter, or at least cheaper. Tip:When you put liner notes into the provided folders use both cover and back notes so you can find the titles for the songs later. You will run out of pages when displaying both. A mega album for 4x6 photos holds them all...though imperfectly. Remove (noUCE) for replies. |
