The Aiwa XC-RW700 is an excellent choice for a low-priced cd recorder. The discs that work best with it are Maxell and TDK. Some Sony discs and Memorex discs (the multi-colored ones) work well also. I have never had a problem with the Maxell discs but the Memorex ones work sometimes and sometimes they don't. Overall, I would give this player / recorder a 4 out of 5 raring. I have had it since early 2001 and have never had a problem with the player. I would, however recommend that you should clean the player / recorder every 20 - 25 hours with a good quality cleaning disc with a brush embedded on it.

I own the Aiwa 700 CD recorder and enjoy it very much. Have had it for almost 15 years and had NO trouble what so ever. I bought it to record vinyl records and it does well, U do have to # the tracks manual but , O well. My main cd player is a Arcam and it is hard to tell which 1 is playing and i have did the A-B thing alot..........

Works well except with CDRWs. Memorex discs worked a few times with severe dropouts after that. Kyphermedia discs say "No Audio".

Works fine with CD-R discs but manual doesn't say which brands of CD-RWs DO work and AIWA is belly up.

Works fine to dub casettes, LP, other CDs etc with analog input. Except with CDs, you have to manually advance tracks when dubbing tapes or LPs .

MUST use CD-R AUDIO discs. Computer discs will not work. You can play a finallized CD-R and play and save as MP3s in your computer.

I can't find what brand CD RWs to buy.

When it works, it works great. It has a nasty habit of not recognizing a cd on the burn side which is very inconvenient. You can not monitor what you record via headphones which is another down side. I would not recommend it. You also can not get a tech to give you advise without having to pay for it. At least I can't find a place. Sorry AIWA
