Strength:

Netural, not overly 'punchy' sound.
Subwoofer output.
Remote control.
Digital output.
High quality (bananna) speaker connectors.
Compact size.

Weakness:

Problematic CD changer

Purchased for office/desk use at Costco in 2000. I believe it to be an above average product for the money. I too experienced problems with the CD changer malfunctioning after a couple of years of light CD changer usage. The condition started with loud mechanical noises, and then progressed to no CD function at all. After inserting, ejecting, powering on/off, etc the unit has functioned flawlessly for the past 3 years using only the 'DISC 1' tray. I dare not attempt to use it as a changer. So far this strategy has paid off.

I have not found this unit to be overly powerful with alot of drive, but have found it adequate for filling my home office (bedroom sized) room with ample sound. It's performance was marketdly improved by substituting the accompanied speakers with a pair of NHT SB1s and with the addition of a subwoofer.

Since this product has long since been discontinued, a recommendation to purchase it moot. If found on the used/second hand market beware of the CD changer issue.

Strength:

Cool looks, decent sound for the price.

Weakness:

Cd player mechanisim sucks!

I got this system at UBid.com, for 89 bucks and man did it lok good and sound great too. I Added a sub-woofer to the system and it sounded perfect as the only thing this system was missing was some punch to the bass. But like the other reviewer I too had a problem with the CD player and after a year and a half the cd player conked on me. It started making weird noises at first and then would not play any cd's at all.

Strength:

Sound, size, appearance, features/remote.

Weakness:

CD player SUCKS - crapped out after 1.5 years of minimal use!

I thought this was a great mini-system. The sound is amazing! Like the other review on this site, the CD player crapped out as well. It makes this weird noise and shuffles around a bit, but then it NEVER plays my CD's anymore. I thought it was just my copied CD's at first, but now it won't play ANY CD's. I tried cleaning, canned air and everything - to no avail. I haven't even had this 2 years yet. I am pissed!

Strength:

The three cd changer was nice. The compact size was another bonus because the room that I have is a dorm room and it did the job without getting in the way

Weakness:

The damn thing broke down!!!!

I had this stereo and I loved it it was small cute and it got loud as hell!!!! The remote was a nice addition but I wish that there was a holder or something on the stereo to hold it (I lost the remote). The sound was very clear and the speakers were great. The damn thing broke down on me and the cd player would start making this crazy noise and never played a cd AGAIN. And I loved my TEAC.
