I purchased this GEX-XMP3 player as a friend of mine had gotten one and recommended it to me. I only used the radio once as a portable unit. It got horrible reception with it's on board antenna, and the head phone antenna that comes with it didn't help. So, I basically purchased an expensive home unit at that point. It had all types of reception problems at home. If I didn't use it for a few days, it would take forever to get tuned into stations after starting it up. So, despite all of that, I renewed my subscription after a year. When I turned the unit on about 2 days after that renewal, it would not boot up. After doing some research, I found that I was a victim of having one of the crappy units that gets stuck in this "powering up" mode, and never goes any further. This was about 1 month after the warranty was up (I have several more stories about other products that died just after the factory warranty!!). No help, or reply from Pioneer. I used to like their products when all they sold was home and car stereos and speakers. After this fiasco with this expensive little P.O.S, I think I will spend my money elsewhere. I am now getting a base model sat radio that I can use at home and in my truck. I just purchased a new DVD drive for my PC, as I had worn out the old one. I purposely passed up several Pioneer models of drives, and will continue to do so for all Pioneer products in the future. For all consumers: Do not purchase this unit. Spend your hard earned dollars on something cheaper. Pioneer is like microsoft. They pushed too hard to add too many features and rushed out a very, very bad product that they do not stand behind. Gotta go, I need to blast this review out to every site I can find. |
