Like many people i thought Bose was a quality brand, with good sound. I bought these, as they were comfortable, and i used them for home use only. The sound is okay, and they are comfortable, even listening to music for 2 to 3 hours.

These are okayheadphones if you expect them to last about a year, because that's all they'll last before they start falling apart. Sound is okay, but material and build is poor. The foam surrounds started to flake off after a year, and one day they fell off my couch onto my carpeted floor (about a 3 foot fall), and the little plastic side piece which holds the ear cup on the head band cracked and the headphones fell apart. Flimsy, flimsy, flimsy. Just look at them. Don't they look flimsy to you? Well they are. That little round piece on the side that says Bose on it, is a little thin plastic cap with 4 plastic pins as thin as toothpicks holding the cup on the headband. Be warned.

Okay, so now time to look for a new set of headphones. I did my research online and ended up buying a pair of Audio Techinca ATH-M50s headphones. AWESOME I got them from Amazon for less than the Bose headphones. Not only do they feel much more solid, but the sound is much better the Bose Triports. Lows are much more powerful, but the highs are very crisp. My recommendation, forget about Bose and go with the Audio Techinca ATH-M50s. You won't be sorry.

seriously?

Weakness:

sound is crap, the materials feel so cheap... kind of like driving in a really old nissan micra. seriously when you feel like you want to really crank up some music your constantly thinking... 'will these headphones still make a clear noise next time i use them, or will they buzz"... well guess what...yep, they'll almost certainly buzz.

These headphones are really bad. i bought them in good faith... thinking that bose cared. but i ended up paying £90 for two small silver Bose logos and the rest for a severely rubbish sound.

Strength:

Okay sound.. nothing exceptional..

Weakness:

It gets hot after about 10 minutes of use and starts to get sweat around ears..
Sound quality is medicore..
Too pricey..
For the money, there are many alternative companies are out there..

It's not 90s.. Research on the web and can find some of the companies not as well known as Bose that outperforms BOSE anytime..

I bought this headphone for music listening through my computer.
I enjoyed it and watching dvds and sound was pretty cool.
Sound quality was okay but not the best ~~
Had good bass, okay mid and high..
Like I said.. It was just okay...
As I was using this product, after about 2month of use, the headpiece broke on me..WTF.. I paid $150.. Quality was like those $15 headphones.. Cheap plastics..
I used duct tape to hold it after...
Overall..it's okay but for the price..it's not worth it..
It's over priced..In my opinion..
I believe it should be like $39.99 ...

Strength:

clean sound, comfy, decent noise cancellation

Weakness:

that bag they give you is a joke, it might keep them clean?! but protect them from things like friends sitting on them (which is MUCH more of a plausible problem id say) they dont.

I would have to agree with the person that made the last post, im terribly sorry but i do not see your name any longer and plain forgot it... these are good headphones. im not gonna try to lie and say that ive heard of over half of the brands mentioned on this website and they might be better, but as compared to the sound that i have heard from places like best buy, circuit city, and some smaller speaker shops, these sound awesome. there does seem to be a bose-hating trend on this site as well as many others, and i cant say i see that it is well founded- hey i hate microsoft, but damned if ill be caught dead without windows.

Strength:

Where do I start, the sound quality is second to none the design is superb. Then you have the name Bose on the worlds' best speaker manufacture.
With having such good quality headphones the quality of the music has to be the same, otherwise you do not get the full benefits of having such dam good headphones. So if you download your music make sure it is 360kbs or of a cd as this is the best quantity of music. Also if anything goes wrong with the product you have a 3 year guarantee with them so Bose will replace them or repair them as long they are within the 3 years.

Weakness:

The price is a very obvious place to start, because not a lot of people will pay £99 for a pair of shoes never mind a pair of headphones! However you get what you pay for. Also you do not get a hard carry case; all you get is a soft drawstring bag that offers no protect to the expense that you wear on your head. So when transporting them you have to be extra careful because damage could happen very easily however it has not happened with me.
When I ordered them I stupidly filled out the form wrong and Bose did not ring me or e-mail me to tell me that there was a problem, so after a week I rang them up and rectified the problem when they told me. After this is was 2 weeks before Christmas and they said I would have them for 25th Dec and I received them on the 15 Jan. These products are very hard to get even from a Bose shop in the UK because they have sold out or they are cutting down stock so if you can ever get your hands on a pair do so and sell them on ebay!

Ever since I was young I have always wanted the best quality, anything less was not good enough. So when it comes to listening to my favorite songs I had my heart set on the Bose Triports headphones, because I went into a Bose shop and listened to a song and it was like they were playing in the room I was in. It took me a few months to persuade my-self into spending £99 on them. I tried Sony noise reducing headphones and they are good for short periods of time but the Bose fit my head and the noise was so crisp it was unbelievable.

If you want to listen to your music with perfect quality, then the Bose are for you. If not there are plenty other headphone makes out there but for me Bose are at the top with out a doubt.

Customer Service

Little to be desired for but if there was a problem I am sure it would be recitfied very quickly.

Strength:

These headphones bass reproduction is second to none. It is somewhat understated, in order to achieve a more overall balanced setup. Indeed Bose states in the products manual not to turn on Bass Boost features on your personal audio device as this can spoil the fine tuning the Headphones have been given in order to produce the most balanced sound. The temptation when purchasing headphones is to go for the pair with the most powerful bass, unfortunately this often drowns out other elements of the song. These headphones have a clearly defined, low bass, but at a volume that does not detract from vocals or any other elements in the song. The Phones also have a gold-plated jack, however this doesn't make any difference if you own an Ipod like me as they don't have gold-plated inputs. The headphones can only reproduce great sound if you have enough deail in your songs, for this reason if you own an Ipod I reccomend importing CD's using Itunes lossless format (Edit, Preferences, Advanced tab, Importing tab). It takes up more space but you won't lose any of the song detail from your CD's, and this is the best way to enjoy your headphones to their full potential.

Weakness:

Obviously the price is a little steep, but apart from that there is very little to complain about. The headband seems to be a source of frustration for many customers, however I've had no problems with it so far. The thinness of the band can cause it to be a little uncomfortable at the top, however this is somewhat nullified by the padding in this area. The only other complaint I have is that the headphones don't come with a carry case like the more expensive Quite Comfort 2's. You do get a drawstring carry bag, but this really offers no protection to the phones, so you have to be extremely careful when taking them places, and it can also make storing them quite difficult.
They can also drain the batteries in Ipods a liitle quicker than your normal, in ear headphones

For some reason there seems to be many with a grudge against Bose. Why this is so I'm not sure, maybe its because of their relentless advertising, perhaps the fact they don't release technical specifications on their products or perhaps (most likely) it's just a case of tall-poppy-syndrome. Obviously your always going to a pay a bit more for a brand like Bose but in this case I think the extra money (AUD$220) was definately worth it. I am always sceptical of those who bag out there products, I find it to hard believe you wouldn't try out a system beore you bought it, especialy at this price, and if you were dissapointed with the results obviously you wouldn't purchase them. I suspect many people who simply dislike Bose as a brand for whatever reason haven't even purchased or tried their products. These are extremely comfortable headphones, with soft suede padding covering the earcups, and they also block out external noise quite effectively.

Customer Service

When purchasing the customer service was excellent, I was allowed to bring my own Cd's into the store and try them out in conjuction with the headphones.

Strength:

Taut bass, realistic midrange, bright treble. Lightweight design and comfort allow hours of easy listening. They look darn good too!

Weakness:

Bring out 'impurities' in your mp3's, and if you dont have the updated headband this may break (although Bose will sort this free of charge)

I got these headphones as a birthday present after being very impressed with my Dad's pair when he bought some. My Dad's headband broke on his, but he sent the 'phones to Bose and they replaced the headband with the updated version very quickly free of charge. People say that these are badly built and feel cheap, but although they are very light they do seem pretty solid; I have sat on mine by accident before and they are still in one piece. Now for the sound; from the off it is breathtaking. I have tried many other headphones, and compared to them the bass on the Bose Triports is clear and quick, not muddy or boomy. The mids are realistic, and the Treble crisp and sharp. Due to them being so light and comfy, you forget you're wearing them at all after a while! I think the only bad thing about these headphones is that they bring out quality issues in ripped music, so if you are listening to mp3's or similar on these, I would recommend you rip at 320kbps at least.

Customer Service

Friendly staff, good service, very helpful for resolving any issues.

Strength:

initially comfortable
they look pretty good though there are better (the AKG K-701 for one)
they are efficiant
they are "Bose" right?

Weakness:

They honestly dont sound nearly as good as they should for their price.
they can become uncomfortable after a while because they get warm
a large number of them have a headband design flaw(it has recently been fixed)

"Bose the most trusted name in sound". Bose is a large (I belive the largest) well advertiesed speaker company. They have good coustomer service, their products are very fashionable and this perticular pair of headphones looks excellent as an accesory to an ipod. Ill be honest I have no loyalties to any company. there are some companies that I trust because they generally deliver and some which I avoid because they generally dont. But If a company that has never deliverd before suddenly does then I am happy to buy the product which they have created. My point is this; Bose is not a company that (in my opinion because after all this is the audio world) delivers and In the case of the TriPorts they have relied too much on fashion and advertising and have not engineered them to the highest standards. I can be overly technical at times and so I will keep this simple. Basically you will most likely be happy with this pair of headpones because you probably havent heard anything in this price range before. I promise that most of what the audio world has to offer in this price range sounds better. These headphones are not as transparent as they should be by a long shot and they can become uncomfortable after long periods of use because the ear-cups can become very warm.
To summerize; if you are reading reviews because you just got a pair of Bose as a present then happy birthday/chanukah/christmas/etc.... I think you will probably be happy with them. However If you are reading reviews because you are thinking of buying a pair then I cannot reccomend them. Please consider what you need them for. (all pairs listed below will sound better and can be found for $150USD or less however the "just sound quality" ones sound the best)

Just Sound Quality:(these are open back so they leak a ton of sound and have no isolation but they have a great sound stage and the worlds TOP headphones are openback )
AKG K-501
Grado SR-60
Grado SR-80
Grado SR-125
Sennheiser HD-485

Isolation: (these headphones are closed back like the Bose TriPorts and provide some isolation they will probably not sound as good as the open backs though)
Sennheiser HD-280
Sennheiser HD-215

In Ear Monitors:(these sound really good and block more noise than any other type of headphone BUT they are basically earbuds that go really deep into your ear and some people find them uncomfortable)
Shure E2c
Etymotic Er6i

Price was never actually an object:(you thought the Bose TriPorts were as good as it got and that is why you were looking at them... haha not even close. these headphones are comparable but different. the price is list and for reference but the more expensive ones don't necessarily sound better just diffrent. you should also have a headphone amplifier for use with these although you dont have to. These are the world's finest dynamic headphones. Oh and they are more comfortable than just about anything on the market )
AKG K-701 $400
Beyerdynamic DT880 $489 (no not the 990's they are more expensive but not as good)
Sennheiser $500
Grado RS-1 $695

Customer Service

no complaints. its supposedly pretty good though ive never really had a problem.
