Strength:

Sound Quality. Fairly inexpensive.

Weakness:

Might be uncomfortable for some.

These are nice headphones for $20. If you're not used to "behind the neck" headphones, some may find them uncomfortable. I like them because they're held tight against the head, and don't let much sound out. Sound quality is good. Better than any stock headphone that come with "portables".

Strength:

Low price, very comfortable to wear.

Weakness:

Poor sound quality (found this out when I connected it to my Sony receiver which prior I used a $100 JVC DIGITAL READY headphone (sounds alsome by the way)

This is an okay headphone, especially if you are the on-the-go type of person. It is very comfortable to wear. One suggestion about these headphones before you consider buying them is that you have to have some kind of SOUND adder (2 steps of MEGA BASS for example, DIGITAL MEGA BASS, etc.)on your portable audio to give them a EQ kick.

Strength:

comfort, portability, the ears don't come to sweat, nice sound

Weakness:

the bass is not too strong - but for the size, there's no miracle. after all, bass is not colores and over emphased. Medium a little uneven, highs a little weak that's all
oh ! another thing : don't wear glasses wit them or your ears will soon look like the Concorde's aerobrakes !!!

I'm nicely surprise about the sound and the comfort. These pairs were a gift for my cd player and the sound is better that I could expect. Good entry level headphones ! Now I'm suprised how the MDR G82 would sound !!

Strength:

Looks cool, good sound

Weakness:

Awkward with glasses

Typical good audio quality I would expect from a pair of lightweight Sony headphones. I use them for practically everything from listening to music, to watching late-night DVD's on my computer, to editing videos, to practicing my keyboard synthesizer.

I wear glasses, so it is a little awkward wearing these headphones, especially at first. But as long as I don't try to adjust or remove my glasses while wearing the headphones, everything is fine.

I'd recommend these headphones to everyone, even those wearing glasses, but they will require some getting used to. Therefore I must only give them 4 out of 5 stars.

Strength:

Style

Weakness:

Low overall (voltage) sensitivity, overemphasized upper midrange and lower treble, may be uncomfortable when wearing glasses

This is a review of the predecessor to the MDR-G52LP~~the MDR-G51 (which is identical except for color).

I got these when I was experimenting with other styles of headphones. But these sounded no better than most headphones that come packaged with personal audio electronics! I had to turn the volume of my Panasonic SL-SW850 all the way to maximum just to hear much output from the MDR-G51/G52LP~~actual sensitivity is much lower than what the pagkage says (Sony claims 104dB/mW, but it's more like 94dB!). There is a response hump in the upper midrange and lower treble (hump then drop-off). The bass is just audible through these headphones, but it's neither strong nor particularly deep. And when I tried boosting the bass, they began to clip! And the way these clip on to the ears interferes with eyeglass-wearing!

Overall, if I have only $20 to spend on Sony headphones, I'd pick either of the "Sports" earbuds (MDR-A30G or MDR-E827G) or the "Groove" model earbud (MDR-ED228LP).
