Strength:
Good external sound dampening
Weakness:
Everything else These headphones are complete crap. First of all, they have almost no treble whatsoever. Everything sounds very dull, and what treble there is is very harsh and grating. The midrange is flat and dull, it colors voices very badly, and guitars have the most awful fatuging sound to them. Deep bass is non-existant, and midbass is overemphasized, giving a sound like a 3" speaker trying to put out too much bass without yet getting very distorted. Please do yourself a favor and listen to these before you buy them, so you don't make the same mistake. Similar Products Used: Koss TD-61, Porta Pro |

Strength:
Long cable • Exterior noise rejection
Weakness:
Harsh highs • Weak lows • Pinching fit Ack. I bought these after listening to a friend's pair. I had been listening thru 'borrowed' NW-Airlines phones for a week, and these sounded stunning. I didn't do any real comparisons, and was happy with these....until I heard some of my mixes (home studio lacking good monitors) on a pair of MDR-V6's--suddenly I knew why my mixes never translated well to my speakers. These cans, while providing great isolation, have harsh highs (to the point of headache after a long session) and weak bass response. They also have a fir that is super-hard on the ears after just a half hour of listening. I plan to invest in a pair of 7506's as soon as I can--in the meantime, I've been mixing and monitoring thru my stereo. Similar Products Used: MDR-V6, variety of cheapo 'phones |

Strength:
Decent sound
Weakness:
Breakable as heck.. Flimsy 'weakest point' snapped on both ears These units were bought with a buzz that required pressurizing the membrane to the point where it nearly popped. Any strong low-end signals created a buzz before I did this. Now they sound decent, although there's better values out there.. Similar Products Used: Koss TD/75 [i'm getting an actual pair of phones soon. not these] |

Strength:
have been unusually durable for Sonys
Weakness:
sound quality, sound quality, sound quality Frankly, the "audio enthusiasts" who have given these headphones four stars and up are showing that they're not really audio enthusiasts. These headphones are junk. Sound quality is poor all around without *any* clarity, and you need to turn up the bass on your sources to get decent sound that doesn't sound like a 30 year old radio, of course at the expense of the already poor mids and highs. Strength:
None
Weakness:
Bad lows and highs, very muddy These headphones are downright afwul, I blew $50 on them about two years ago, and they sounded much worse than the headphones they replaced, which came with the CD player. They distort very easily when given a moderate amount of bass at higher volume levels, and they are extremely muddy, no matter what volume level you are at. Even though the high end is so muddy, I still find these headphones extremely fatiguing, to the point that listening to music at moderately high volume levels for fairly short periods of time (over 20 minutes) puts a strain on my ears. The one thing that these headphones are very good at is blocking out outside noise, particularly in a large crowd of people, and I guess that is the reason why I did not return them. |

Strength:
Good, nice looking headphones
Weakness:
Nothing, I couldn't give a sh*t about all that picky stuff other people complain about. There cheap headphones, what do you cunts expect? For any casual listener who takes there discman to school and some other places these are some good headphones with fine quality sound. Personnaly, I could not give a rusty fuk about how perfect the sounfd quality and other stuff is. These are some good inexpensive headphones that are just fine for any casual listeners. I got them cuz I didn't want to spend over 150$ for the top of the line Siony DJ headphones. They work just fine for me, and they should be just as good for any other casual listeners. |

Mediocre headphones at a mediocre price. Low efficiency headphones barely suited for use with walkman devices. Better than the headphones that come with walkman devices but lack clarity in the highs and umpph in the lows. Good enough for listening on the bus or train. |

Pretty nice pair..decent price ($35). Great clarity and accuracy. Ergonomics is a slight problem...or maybe i just have a big head? Overall, pretty decent, i take them wherever i go |

I recently purchased the MDR-V200 headphones so my daughter would have something to use while playing on the computer instead of my Grado SR-60's. Just for fun I decided to give them a listen, in short I'll be returning them. They had no detail, no clarity, no dynamics & plenty of muddiness when compared to the Grado's. No I didn't compare the two using the computer but rather through my home audio (Denon) equipment. Even my 7 year old commented on how they sounded "different". For a difference of $20 retail I would chose the Grado's. Wait I have an idea, my daughter can have the Grado SR-60's and I'll get a pair of Grado SR-80's. Hey there really is a Santa Claus. |
