Read the review please.

Weakness:

Existance of people who can come up with weaknesses!!! But can't do much about it...

People who think these headphones don't have enough bass (low freq's) for regular music (Rock/Pop) must be BASS FREAKS! People who think these headphones are only suitable for classic music must be plain IDIOTS! People who think these headphones won't sound any good without a dedicated headphone amp must be MORONS! People who think these headphones will sound like sh_t when used with portable device must be DEAF! People who think you must absolutely have some type or brand cables for these to get sound out of them are VICTIMS OF ADDS AND MAGAZINES! People who think these headphones have crappy build quality must be BLIND! People who think these are inferior to Etymotics (ER4P) just DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY"RE TALKING ABOUT! People who say "these Senns have harsh highs, soft lows, unbalanced midrange" and other junk must be HOPELESS PERFECTIONSTS THAT WON'T BE HAPPY WITH ANY EQUIPMENT EVER... God, I can't believe some of the reviews below. I consider myself a perfectionist type that gets lost in tiny details but how about these people... FACTS: * I have owned and tested a lot of high-end systems/components and the cheapest amp/speaker combo that will sound as good as these headphones will cost you $3000+. * They sound much better than any other headhones I've tried (including ER4P's) right out of any portable equipment, including laptops... * You won't beileve your ears when you use a component CD player as a source and drive these with a dedictaded headpone amp , or through an amp with a descent headpone section (like Arcam A85 or Creek 5350). * You WON'T feel any LACK of BASS unless you're the kind of person that likes to make vehicles around you VIBRATE with your own car stereo! God! * ...though, you will be absolutely SATISFIED if you're the kind of guy/gal with Dynaudios in your car :) I am a cheap cheap guy and these are MONEY WELL SPENT!!! Never ever will sell these... I am still amazed everytime I listen. They are so out-of-ordinary. Buy these! you will thank me! "harsh in the highs" !?!? Geez... Come on! PS. One last point. A lot of people worry if they'll loose any quality if they encode MP3's at 160kB/s etc... Then they listen them with Sony earbuds... Encoding your music at 160 or 320 won't reallyu matter; but switching from Sony earbuds to these Senns will blow you away! And then try it with your home stereo! And then with a Descent amp... PS2: No, SACD's or DVD Audio's are not totally new worlds. Couple these Senns with an ARCAM CD72 and ARCAM A85; then compare it with any multi-channel system under $5000, YOU WILL BE SURPRISED!!! PS3. And pleaaase stop reading that Stereophile magazine... They're supposed to write their honest views; that is the only reason to buy their magazine; but. They can't!!! Because they're funded with adds!!! They can't and won't right anything bad about any equipment unless they keep advertising... So what's the point? Any what's up with weird expressions to express the quality of sound??? Is this ever possible? Try expressing colors to a blind. Come on! Drive to a stereo store and hear them for yourself. You'll be amazed. PS4. Take care!

Strength:

These cans are the most COMFORTABLE I have ever had on my head!!! I can fall asleep @ nite & wake up a few hours later & not even remember I have them on!!! Even if I stay awake for a few hours, I don't get fatigued by the excellent sound, which is very flat, airy and open, musically. For home theater the low end is not boomy,(excellent for music!!), which means very good bass extension in music. But not too many cans can shake your head off anyway. So, I use them quite often for all kinds of music & movies. I listen to everything but rap. I don't care for it. Maybe it's just too boomy for me...

Weakness:

Lacking some low end movie punch...

After trying several headphones, including beyers, grados, sonys, koss ,akgs & other senns, I chose these sennys hd600.$239 from etronics.com!!! What a steal!! the msrp is $450! And with the new hd650 released, that helped bring the $$$ down all over!!!!I love them!!!

Strength:

Wide soundstage and rich music texture. Not too expensive considering that it is a near top-of-the-line audiophile headphone model. Capable of keeping up with many equipment upgrades.

Weakness:

Must be coupled with quality equipments to sound its best. Might sound too “relaxed” for some music genre. Not suitable for noisy environments.

While not exactly a household name, Sennheiser has a strong reputation amongst audiophiles for making great sounding headphones. Introduced in the late 90s, the HD-600 was recently supplanted by the HD-650 as the company’s flagship dynamic headphone. Although no longer the top model, the HD-600 remains a popular audiophile headphone and is worth a careful audition if you are interested in a $200-$300 headphone. That being said, the HD-600 might not be the right headphone for everyone. Described as slightly “laid-back” sounding, some audiophiles suggest that the HD-600 is best suited for jazz, vocals, instrumentals and classical music. I generally agree with these opinions, but would add that I listen to a large variety of music ranging from classical and new age to mainstream pop and hip-hop; to date I’ve been very satisfied with the HD-600’s ability to bring life to my music. Nevertheless, if you listen mainly to rock, punk, hip-hop or techno, you might want to consider Grado or Sony headphones instead. Construction-wise, the HD-600 is a little delicate. No, the HD-600 is not poorly constructed. Rather the headphone is designed for home use and is meant to be light and comfortable (and comfortable it is). For most not-too-careless persons, the HD-600 would do just fine. The HD-600’s sonic performance is excellent. Compared to Etymotic ER-4S canal earphones (ER-4S sells for ~$260; see reviews for Etymotic earphones), the HD-600 brings out more texture from music and produces a wider and more engaging soundstage. Treble breathes better and achieves greater realism. Bass on both phones were comparably deep and tight, but the HD-600 has better impact thanks to its larger drivers. The HD-600 edges over the ER-4S in reproducing vocals, wind and string instruments. On the other hand, the HD-600 is not as balanced sounding as the ER-4S. Music on the HD-600 sounds a bit “airier” than the ER-4S. Additionally, the HD-600’s open-air design does not block out external room noise. Thus, much treble and bass detail is lost in a noisy listening environment. In this aspect the ER-4S, being a sealed design, surpasses the HD-600 in versatility. Powering the HD-600 is not easy. A portable CD-player or MP3 player would not drive this headphone very well. The HD-600 should be used with a good quality headphone amplifier and source component. For headphone amplifiers, I recommend auditioning amps made by Headroom, Meier Audio, Sugden’s Headmaster, Music Fidelity’s X-Cans and Ray Samuel’s Emmeline. In sum, the HD-600 is a great pair of headphone. Coupled with a dedicated amplifier, and provided that your taste in music is not too heavy, this pair of headphone will be worth every penny spent. Definitely worth a serious audition.

Strength:

Merciless! You hear how your mixes really look like. Excellent dynamics, professional standard.

Weakness:

A little bit fragile: it's NOT purposed for DJ'ing live! It's an open headphone that one can only use in silent ambiance.

I'm very proud of buying this HD 600: extraordinary sound, very precise, you get for what you pay. I use it as a "main monitor" while making precise mixes or mastering. If it sounds well in the HD 600, it will sound well everywhere!

Strength:

Highly revealing of both the source equipment and the recording itself. A good thing if you have high quality kit and want to hear the benefits.

Weakness:

Highly revealing of both the source equipment and the recording itself. Bad if you have rubbish source equipment or you are listening to a poor quality recording.

Too harsh in the treble and too soft in the bass. Great for classical music but lacks that extra slam required for rock music.

The share build quality

I have just out these on but I was thinking that the amp was not gonna be able give enough power headphone (denon 3803 in pure direct mode). How wrong I just put on Holiday (Maddona) I used to hear this all the time back in the 80's and now there is so much detail that was missing. They sound so natural also the base is there I have been reading alot of reviews about the loss.

Strength:

Transparent, power, detailed and clear sound.

Weakness:

You'll be needing to hunt for a bargin price. Thin bottom end.

Prior to using this headphone I was overwhelmed by the reviews made by several leading Hi-Fi magazines. After using my old Denon SG-H55 intensively, I decided to purchase the HD 600 at a bargain price. According to the high price, I had high expectations during the demonstration. It impressed with revealing details in the music and clarity, and outguns the Grado S60 when coming to sound quality and power (looks too). However, these headphones aren't for rock music or metal (with heavy bass), but rather excels with classical music. I'm not saying it's not suitable for music for bass, but compare with the treble these headphones are a bit thin at the low end. On the other hand, other headphone clips at the bottom end while the HD 600 still shouts with detail without any stress. Sometimes I hate that the HD-600 reveals too much about the portable component's weakness of sound, so careful equipment matching is essential. Generally these are good headphones with plenty of power and detail, and consumers can take advantage of the discounted price after it being in the market for years.

Why I am writing this is because I had already read of many reviews about the HD 600 , and golly gee , it's good! Chopin, Doors, even Paul Simon. But I would like to give a particular commendation to Headroom in Montana. A phone call from Australia and a Visa Card and all went very well. Where I live is 750 kilometres from Sydney,Lightning Ridge, out in the Bush ( look it up on your atlas ). It's good to be able to deal with reliable people. Price was US $ 279 plus postage.

UNCOMFORTABLE, UNCOMFORTABLE, UNCOMFORTABLE

Crisp and detaled sound in all ranges, extraordinary detailed bass. The Best i`ve ever heard ------- BUT ------- they are extremely uncomfortable compared to any other headphone i ever tried. Very heavy, bad fit and WAY too much pressure on the ears. I get headaches (No joke) when wear them for longer than 1 hour. I can wear all other headphones i ever tried for ages without any problem.
