Strength:
Very accurate reproduction and very comfortable
Weakness:
Have not found any yet. The 7506 headphones are a definate pleasure to use. I use them for digital multi-track recording and they made life a whole lot easier. My original intent was to buy a set of cans that had a closed back, so that there would be no bleed into my condensor mic when recording low level vocal or guitar passages. Not only did I solve that problem with these cans, I also solved the compensation problem of the difference between my old cans and my Tannoy mixing monitors. The 7506 cans also were able to produce the volume needed when I record my drums. The 7506 cans reproduce content that you probably will not hear if you listen to pop music on a mid level stereo system. Until you go to a higher end stereo these frequencies won't be heard. I did an evaluation on playback media and was surprised to hear all the things that I never heard before. After I took the cans off my head and listened to my Kenwood home stereo, I told my fiance that I needed to upgrade my complete stereo system. I strongly recommend this product for recording muscians. I think the price may be a little high for the average listener, but for a recording muscian they are a great buy. Strength:
Godly sound quality, strong outside noise blocking, incredibly comfortable, great price
Weakness:
Are you kidding? When i plugged these into my amp and played Exploration of Space, the little hairs on the back of my neck stood up and a wide smile appeared on my face. I can't believe i got such an amazing pair of headphones for below $100. Similar Products Used: Nothing as good as this |

Strength:
Deep, strong bass. Clear highs.
Weakness:
Slightly harsh, espicially the mids. Uncomfortable for extended periods. I'll start with the physical, to get that out of the way. First off, I don't care about looks, and that's good, because these things are boring as all heck. I find the cord annoying. You can't really use the full 3 meters of the cord, because it's coiled and hard to extend. If you get more than two meters away from your source the cord starts to pull them off your head. As for fit, they aren't bad, but in my opinion, nothing compares them to the nice senn headphones. These sonys don't quite fit around my ears, which is annoying at the least, and after extended periods, a bit painful. Also, the ear pads are quite shallow... so the driver can actually push on your ear. However, over all, I can stand them, for about 4 hours at a time, at wich point I need to take a little bit of a break. Strength:
Good design, well built, low sound leak, good low end.
Weakness:
Mid range, high end, comfort for long wear. Well George (11/16/01 post), I think I'd agree with Sasha. I like the sound of the Grado SR-60's better too. The mid range does'nt sound hollow, the high end is a little more crisp than the 7506's and the imaging is better. I do prefer the around the ear design of the 7506's to the on ear of the Grado's. I like and use the 7506's for traveling - they fold up nicely, the closed design will keep you from anoying the person next to you on a plane, and their efficient enough to provide decent volume on my portable MD. The sound of the Sennheisser and Grado is similar (and both very good), but 545's are a lot more comfortable. However, if money is tight but you want some accurate headphones, the Grado SR-60's still can't be beat. Similar Products Used: Sennheisser 545, Grado SR-60, Sony VDR V600, AKG, Koss, Stax |

Strength:
Crystal clear highs, deep lumbering bass, excellent build, comfortable..especially with Beyer pads, best bang for the buck..if you pick up the v6's which are identical.
Weakness:
NONE Just a response to the last post from Germany who gave the 7506's 3 stars. The grados are better than the Sony's, what are you kidding? The Sony's HAVE better resolution than the Grado's hands down! They are analytical. Crystal clear highs and very deep tight bass is the standard with these cans. These are not DJ cans by any chance. Plus the Sony's are closed cans while the Grado's are open. The grado's are great cans, bright highs and good midrange but lack deep low end. They are rock headphones, the Sony's sound good with everything. Check out www.head-fi.org/forums for more info, in my opinion the Sony MDR-7506's beat out the Grados. The best cans are not Sennheisers...i think i would prefer stax thank you very much. 5 stars to offset your rating. Strength:
Effectful sound, rugged, quite comfortable
Weakness:
Sound not clear After studying reviews of headphones potentially useable for my Minidisc-Player, I identified the 7506 and Grado SR-60 as promising candidates. Although both are very uncommon in Germany, I managed to aquire one of each for testing. After having first heard the Grados, I was initially very disappointed by the Sonys. Their sound by far not as clear as both the Grados and Sennheisers. Of course they are much more comfortable than the SR-60 and they seem to be much more sturdy, but they just don't really sound hi-fi to me. In instrumental and classical music, they are hopeless against the Grados, only with bass-depending pop-music they gain a little ground, though they still don't beat the Grados for me. With the Grados, you close your eyes and believe you at the location, while the Sonys sound unmistakable like headphones. But I found that their sound is very suitable for watching movies on the PC and TV, so I decided to keep them for that purpose. BTW, the best sounding Headphones were still the Sennheisers, which have great Resolution, a warm Sound and a clean bass. Similar Products Used: Sennheiser HD-560 Ovation II, Grado SR-60 |

Strength:
acurrate, affordable professional tool
Weakness:
not comfortable enough for extensive use, doesn't isolate from noisy surrounding as expected. I was looking for an accurate and neutral sounding pair of headphones aimed at sound design development and heard a lot about these cans; according to many musicians and sound engineers, these are an unmistakable “classic” in recording studios . I therefore gave them a try versus my good old Sennheiser HD 560 Ovation II bought some 8 years ago and was not disappointed; the latter sounded a bit hazy, less accurate in soundstage rendering, dynamics and transients. Solid deep bass couldn’t be reached as with the 7506 . Similar Products Used: Sennheiser HD 560 ovation2 and HD430 |

Strength:
Strong bass and comfort
Weakness:
None that I can notice not being an audiophile. =OP After listening to these in various conditions that I bought the headphones for. I use them for my computer and listen to all types of music but a good part of it is Rap so the bass comes in handy. Gaming is a wonder I have always used cheap headphones and was even more amazed at how much detail I can pick up with these bad boys. These do have a lot of bass and I bought them knowing that so if you don't prefer a lot of bass then I would choose something else but for the comfort price and sound these are a wonder. I can still hear the treble and the mids so everything is pretty balanced. Similar Products Used: Nothing first set of high end headphones I have bought |
