Strength:

Great DVD player for the price, nice remote.

Weakness:

None that I can find.

I bought this at a day after Thanksgiving sale paid $10 extra for the warrenty. Great value! Easy to hook up and nice remote. Has played many store bought DVD's and rentals. Only skipped a couple of times on rentals. Great DVD player for the price. Proof that you don't need to spend alot of money to have a good quality machine. Most likely made the same place the expensive ones are just a different name put on it! Go for it!

I have a question, please read.

ive already reviewed this product......

i originally wanted the panasonic rv31, and i was put assured that i made the right choice, by having the below review stating that quality between both is close.

i have a question- when u burn mp3s into a cd, do u just put all the files on to the cd, or do u have to put each of the singers seperately in a different folder---so when i play the mp3 cd, i can just navigate by the singers.

or when i burn the mp3's without folders, does AD1500 have singers divided up into chapters alphabetically? so i can easily find which singer i want to listen.

any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Strength:

Picture quality, MP3 playback quality

Weakness:

Tiny remote, must load MP3s carefully

I threw dvd's, MP3s and cd's at this player, which is hooked up to my Trinitron (with an S-video cable) and audio system, over the holidays. I purchased it because of good luck with a trusty Apex 500 and a desire to have an MP3 player in my living room.

The picture quality is fine, almost as good as my Panasonic RV31, connected to my studio tv via component hookup. I've had no problems with rented disks, and (so far) no tray lockup problems encountered by some others. There are a couple of quirks. It will only play MP3s within their folders and if one does not properly exit an MP3 program the player may not recognize a new MP3 disk. Inserting a dvd or cd will cure the problem. The 1500 has a lot to offer, including zoom capablities. It is very light in weight and so you may want to anchor it or put an encyclopedia on top! All in all a fine product so far.

Strength:

At this point, unknown

Weakness:

durability & quality workmanship

At first, it worked great with little problems. We had to buy a RF modulator to use it, but it made a nice first DVD player. Except all of a sudden all the console buttons stopped working. We can only operate it via the remote. It's on its way back to Kmart. Was a little ticked to see it on sale a week after I bought it, but that's all timing. Can't say that I am all too impressed with the quality if the buttons break after less than 2 months of light use. Will probably shell out a little more for a more well known brand

Strength:

Cheap! Plays just about anything you throw at it... DVD, MP3, VCD, SVCD, etc.

Weakness:

Audio sync problems with burned VCD.

I picked this El Cheapo player up to play some VCD movies I downloaded. Unfortunately, it has audio sync problems when playing PAL VCD, which is the format most downloaded movies are in. I've heard that this MAY be fixed by using high quality CDR media (silver or gold).

On an up note, there is a hack available for this model to make it regionless, macrovision free, and RCE immune! Simple matter of burning new firmware to a CD-R and putting it in the player! Info here...

NOTE: The upgrade does not work on all models. Don't blame me if you fry your player!!!

Strength:

good value

Weakness:

tray wouldn't open - but able to fix it

I had a similar experience as others - tray wouldn't open at first. I opened the access door and gently pulled on the tray and it's worked fine since. Maybe others can try the same. Nicer features and much better value than my previous player. This player is awesome for the $$.

crappy Sony DVR-S560 which died after 1 year and cost 3X the price and doesn't play CD-R/RW media

Strength:

Ability to play MP3, VCD, CD-R, CD-RW. Price.

Weakness:

Sound.

Owned for about 2 weeks with no problems...yet. Picture quality is very good, but my Pioneer unit's picture quality is slightly better. Was unable to disable macrovision on my unit, although many of the AD1500's can be modified. Still, very good value for the price.

Strength:

Weakness:

Roll the dice

Plugged everything in, turned it on, watched the tray slide open and closed, open and closed, open and closed, turned it off, unplugged everything, brought it back. Really wish it worked, seems like a bargain at the price. CC was out of stock, so paid a little more for another brand. I would have tried one or two more for the price.
