Strength:
Plays nearly any format of disc
Weakness:
remote is low quality and is VERY poorly laid out. Overall, the Apex is great. The quality is decent (as good as can be expected for such a low budget item) with the exception of the remote control. However this was not overly important to me because I prefer to use the learning remote from my receiver anyway. I also have an Onkyo DVC 601, but usually use the Apex because of its versatility on different disc formats (good luck getting the Onkyo to play CD-R). |

So many its ridiculous Well this is undoubtedly the worst DVD player I have ever seen. One of my roommates got this for Christmas and the problems are endless. First off, no power on the remote, a design flaw so its forgivable. Similar Products Used: Toshiba 2109, Apex 600a |

Strength:
Does CDR and CDR-W. Does MP3. Has a 3-disk changer. Lots of features for a low price.
Weakness:
Long loading times for CDs. DVDs occasionally skip or freeze. About once every 5 DVDs or so. I've experienced some of the symptons people have talked about but to a lesser degree. But if this unit breaks, I won't be buying another APEX. It's clear that they can't put out a unit with consistent quality. It plays CD-Rs and CD-RWs consistently so I have no problem on the audio side. DVD video and sound quality is very good. I've watched about 50 DVD's in the last five months. Two of the DVDs have been unplayable and about 8-10 others have exhibited occasionaly skips. I've seen the audio/video sync problem a few times. |
