Strength:
picture and sound, front panel controls, appearance and quality of construction.
Weakness:
i wish the "enter" button on the remote was placed in the middle of the cursors. that's it. i've owned this dvd player for 2 years and it's worked very well every time. the picture and sound quality on dvd's is excellent. on cd's the sound is easily the equal of my sony es cd player. it's never skipped, never got stuck on the sound or picture. in terms of appearance and quality of construction it's definitely a winner. the front panel is easy-to-use, with large user-friendly buttons that are well laid out, with all the basic functions that make the remote only an after-thought. it's fairly hefty and seems well made, and in my opinion is very attractive. i wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, based on my experience. many dvd players made since this came out have been slimmed down with tiny buttons. personally i don't think they've been designed with real people in mind - i keep squinting more and more trying to find the control buttons and switches, much less reading the graphics. my jvc is a model of design engineering by comparison. overall i've been very happy with it and hope to use it for many years to come.
