I'm happy with the unit to date. I have played a large selection of movies and not one glitch. More than I can say for Proscan 8075 - took it back! easy to navigate, good sound and picture. Price was great. It's a keeper

The model is obscure. Hard to find info about it. Choppy fast forward.

I just bought this player about a month ago and so far everything seems to be going well. It has had no compatability problems and the sound and video are both very nice. I haven't gotten a chance to use the component video yet but I'm sure it's in order as well. As far as problems go, I think that some DVDs appear to have a little too much video noise on this player. Maybe it's the disks themselves but I'm not sure. If anyone else has seen this or knows of some way to help clean it up, please e-mail me.

Nice remote, easy to use and setup, never locked up on a disc that I've tried in it.

No DD decoder built in, no CD-R playback, but still good for the price.

This is a pretty good player. I got it for $225 Canadian so I thought it was a good deal at the time considering I would have had to pay about $400 for an RCA 5220P. I've rented several DVDs from netflix.com that were pretty badly scratched and it never had a problem playing them. This player also has component outputs, digital audio outs, composite video, and of course S-video out. It's a rebadged Panasonic A-120, but after comparing it with that model the Kenwood had quite a few more useful features than the Panasonic and a better warranty. No CD-R support is a bad thing, but my Kenwood CD player plays them fine so I shouldn't really complain about that. Overall though, a good deal for the price and I would assume the 2001 DV-403 should be comparable in quality and features.

Just perfect for our busy movie-loving family. We run it through a Kenwood VR-309 connected to Mirage FRx-Center, FRx-Rear dipole Surrounds, 8" FRx-S8 Subwoofer and FRx-Three bookshelf Fronts http://www.miragespeakers.com/ speakers and we're totally happy with it. Watched a dozen movies. Cost us $449 locally. Store gave us coupons for 10 free movie rentals and 5 2-for-1.

This is essentially a Panasonic DVDA-120. Same remote, same features, same OSD, everthing. I would recommend the Panasonic, it has a $50 cdn (Pennies american) rebate.

Worked fairly well until it stopped. Wouldn't play about half of my DVDs one day. Completely out of the blue. Nobody knows what the hell is wrong with it.

I just picked up this brand new Kenwood DVD player for $450 Canadian!! This is a great buy. This model replaces the DV-203 and has only been on the market for a few weeks. Apparently it is not available in the U.S. as yet (which is unusual). The machine is very well-equipped with features: DVD/CD/Video Cd, 10 bit Video D/A Converter, 24 bit resolution/96kHz sampling, 32-bit audio decoding, component video output (gold-plated), Dolby Digital/DTS compatible outputs, CD text, twin focus pick-up, newly designed remote, 1 optical/coaxial output, 2 virtual surround modes, 1 SVHS output, on-screen menu, 4 speed playback, etc. etc.!! For the money it is a GREAT value!! The picture is very crisp, clean and detailed and the audio quality is excellent!! If you are in the market for a reasonably priced machine with a lot of features this is the one for you!! If you are in the U.S. let Kenwood know you are looking for it!! No lip-sync problems like the overpriced Sony 330! If anyone out there has one I'd love to hear from you as well. Send me an email.

I bought this new DVD player 3 days ago from Centre Hi-Fi and could not be happier. I bought it on Sept. 4 and have watched 4 movies so far, and everything is great! I'm using the S-video to my Toshiba TV and have an optical connection with a Kenwood VR-209 receiver. I rented two DVD's (Soldier and Payback), and bought two (Speed and Titanic). All I can say is WOW!!! The picture is crisp, and the sound is simply amazing, Speed especially. The DVD player itself is simple, with a decent remote. It plays DVD/VCD/CD. The only thing I don't like about it is that I am force to always select English 5.1 Surround, it's not a default. Other than that, the player is a terrific entry level player that is capable of DD and DTS. So far, no problems whatsoever! I give it 4 stars since nothing is perfect!

I have a Kenwood 1080VR amp and when i called for the future code update number, they didn't have it! That was the main reason I bought the Kenwood
DV-303! I didn't want to have to use two remotes. After 3 weeks of phoning
and e-mailing I finally got a response and the code. It is 6490 for anyone interested. As for it's quality and performance....so far outstanding.
I would, however, have expected Kenwood to inform their north american service centers of its future update code before it's inception into the Canadian marketplace. Does that make sense to anyone else? as far as i'm concerned, this is strike two for Kenwood, see my review of their 1080 amp i purchased last year.
