The picture is amazing(only if you hook it up directly to the tv)and so is the price. Nice siver look. Solid case. It plays every disc known to man.

The remote is kind of slow to respond, but its nothing to worry about. Hooking it up through a vcr is bad, the picture with go blury. WARNING NOT A HOME THEATRE DVD PLAYER!

This is not a dvd player for home theatre's. It will work with receivers but you have to turn the receiver up more then usual to get the sound loud. I'm going to take it back not because it is broken or because its not a good player, i'm taking it back because i want a player for my home theatre. I still highy recomend it to people who don't have home theatre.
I got the player for 299 in canadian funds at zellers. I'm going to try the rca rc5220p, I've heard good things about the player for home theatres.

I BOUGHT THE 1800U AT CHRISTMAS 99’ I WAS VERY HAPPY AT FIRST WITH IT. I HAD EXCESSIVE HEAT BUT NEVER BLEW A FUSE. THE ANGLE DISPLAY DROVE ME NUTS. AFTER ABOUT 8 MOS IT STARTED ACTING UP. SOMETIMES IT WOULD JUST FREEZE UP. SOMETIMES WHEN LOADING A DVD IT WOULD START SPINNING AT HIGH SPEED LIKE IT WAS SEARCHING FOR SOMETHING AND NEVER COME BACK, I WOULD HAVE TO HIT THE POWER BUTTON TO RESET THE UNIT. I CONTACTED KONKA USA AND TALKED WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE FUSE PROBLEMS. ALL I HAD TO DO WAS SEND MY UNIT BACK AND THEY WOULD SEND A NEW 1800U1 IN RETURN. I WAS IMPRESSED THAT THEY WERE STANDING BEHIND THERE PRODUCT. HOWEVER WHEN I RECEIVED THE NEW UNIT (2 ½ WEEKS LATER) THERE WAS NO OPTICAL DIGITAL OUTPUT, NO ZOOM FEATURE, THE UNIT IS VERY NOISY, AT QUIETER PARTS OF MOVIES ALL I CAN HERE IS THE PLAYER WHINING. I CALLED KONKA BACK AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND ME ANOTHER 1800U THAT THEY JUST GOT BACK IN STOCK. I HAVEN’T DECIDED WHICH OF THE LESSOR EVILS I WANT TO LIVE WITH. FOR CHEAP MONEY NOT BAD BUT NOT FOR A SERIOUS HOME THEATER.
