Strength:

Excelent picture & sound

Weakness:

Build , design , lightweight

As soon as I conect it and put the disc in
troubles started. Transport is so loud I can
hear it from 25 ft away.
On general menu set up , no cahnges can be made.
I have an 4:3 , 29 inch Sony TV and on DVD factory
seting is 16:9 . Whatever changes I made it always
went back on factory settings.
So every movie in widescreen format is with black
bars on my TV , despite options in Video set up
were changed to 4:3 pan & scan format.
Company that sold it to me are offical Marantz
dealers here. They are addvertising it as region free
player , but it is not - they are breaking the code ,
and probably this is where mistakes were done.
No problems whatsoever with DVD's from other regions
on the other hand.
I'm returning it . My last buy from this company
or Marantz.

Strength:

Sound and picture quality are excellent!

Weakness:

NONE

This is an excellent DVD player. The sound and picture quality are excellent. I have a Samsung DVD player that freezes the picture when the disk is dirty or sometimes won't even be able to read the disk. I pop the same disk into the Marantz and it works perfectly! If you are in the market for a DVD player, the Marantz 7010 is worth a look.

Strength:

Picture & Sound, beautiful looks

Weakness:

A bit noisy, no other so far

I upgraded my system to Marantz equipment a month ago. It's amazing how can the picture and sound quality differ between the products in the same price range. I tested few other players at home and switched between them like maniac, the Marantz was the absolute winner although it was not the most expensive player I had. Thanks to its excellent audio playback and smooth picture quality.

I noted that Marantz has a Pioneer mechanism inside (although the company is Philips' subsidiary). Remote is quite easy to use, but I've programmed my sr7000 receiver's remote to use my dvd. The dvd remote is same design that in my Philips TV. In my opinion the sound quality is better than in Pioneer 737 and picture quality beats other products I've used.

There's no DVD audio playback (could be important for me in the future), which is already available in some products in this price level. But it is quality that matters. I give 5 stars.

Strength:

Strong Build,Exc sound quailty, visual clarity. Feel the weight.

Weakness:

Remote if any, Wont use it anyway.

After spending months picking my av reciever Sr8000, I started on my dvd/cd. I already had a pioneer 535 which I used for my tv.But this was horid for Audio playback through my Sr8000. I looked at Denon but to get the quality I would of had to spend $1000's more, and the same with Pioneer the 838 is a great player but the 7010 is is just as good and it also matches my system. The sound is cristal clear. Bass is tight and well controlled. You will be suprised what this player can do to your listening pleasure. You need to run the dvd through the digital coax with a good quality rca cable eg tara labs.

The picture quality is second to none, Colours are bright and picture is clear. Skin colour is well matched>This is a good indicator but your tv needs to be of high quality as well>

Overall marantz have put together a great little unit here. It is the second version after the 7000. They have changed some of the zone software and the processer is faster as well as a few minor other changes.

Strength:

Awesome Sound Quality...Even CDs...Perfect Video Playback so far....I like the remote...Quick access time

Weakness:

Price.......No Zoom...probably wouldn't use it

I'm trying to decide wether or not to keep this unit or trade it back for the 3100. The 7010 is supposed to have superior video playback and audio playback. It also has a quicker access time than the 3100....\

Can anyone confirm this ?? With the price reduction to 599. I've heard this is a good deal for this unit..I need some opinions....it's the only player I've owned...thx

Strength:

Incredible build..easy to install..fast seek times

Weakness:

none so far

I love this DVD. I had a Philips but after upgrading the firmware it all of a sudden blew up and no longer played. Getting Marantz was a huge improvement in both video music. I noticed an improvement in both horizontal and verticle soundstage along with increase in depth. Also noticed increase in sound detail that I was not aware of before. Matched with my Marantz reciever I have never been happier with my home theater. Like it says in the manual.."this is meant to last a lifetime". I truly feel I have made my last purchase of home audio equipment for a long time to come. You will not be sorry getting this..huge smile factor!

Strength:

Sheer sound and video quality. Speed of disk access, ease of install. Built like a tank.

Weakness:

remote's a little poorly laid out, but since I've got a Pronto, who cares!??

Intent was to replace my Sony player and move it from the theater/listening room to a family room while upgrading to a player that did DVDs and CDs equally well. Progressive scan was not important in my case, as I've got an outboard video scaler that scales everything up to 720p or beyond, should I choose.

First, I tried the 7000 (older model) and found the user interface and disk access times and layer changes way way way [read: unacceptably] too long. I returned the 7000 for the 7010 after comparing the two side by side in-store. The 7010 had the speed I was looking for along with the picture quality and sound I expected from a player in this price range.

Installation was simple and very intuitive...I was up and going in minutes. Build quality is very nice and does not have a mass market feel at all (except the remote). Since I've got a Pronto remote, I learned the codes from the remote and put it away...for good!

Strength:

Picture & Sound Quality. Build quality and looks.

Weakness:

Plastic tray. Remote.

I was looking for a dvd player that would also be a good replacement for my regular audio cd player and it had to match my Marantz SR7000 receiver. The guy at HiFi Corner recommended me the DV7010. The sound quality is very good indeed, although the SR7000 sounds a bit too 'warm' sometimes. Too eliminate this problem I usually use the 'sound direct' or 'source direct' function. Very good high and mid section. The remote that comes with the DV7010 is not so usefull, but then again who cares! The remote that comes with the SR7000 is super and can handle every piece of equipment that i have. Picture quality is also very good. Great sharpness and very colorfull.
