Strength:
Easy setup, great compatibility, great quality..
Weakness:
none yet This is my first DVD player and I am very content with my purchase. I have it plugged into my Mitsubishi 50" 50605 television and the quality is awesome. I had only one problem, and that was when I plugged it into a TV/VCR and the copyright protection kicked in. This obviously isn't a fault in the DVD player though just something I encountered. Overall, great DVD player and definitely recommended. Similar Products Used: none, first DVD player |

Strength:
Easy to use. Excellent quality sound and picture.
Weakness:
Does not play "Independance Day", "American Beauty" and "Mission Impossible 2". Mitsubishi customer service is hard to contact and provides little help. A local electronics repair store says it is a programing problem and he has yet to see Mistubishi release firmware to solve the problem for any of their models. I actually bought the DD-3000 model which works great and is easy to use. User friendly menus and an attractive and simple remote. It was expensive when I bought it, but has many features so I was hoping to avoid buying another DVD player soon. I have over 200 DVD and it plays them great except for three now which will not play at all do to out of date programing for the machine. Something you would not expect to happen so soon without a format change. |

Strength:
Clean button format & user friendly.
Weakness:
Remote is a little weak. Bought this unit after looking at Sony, Denon, Pioneer, Toshiba & Panasonic. I have always had great luck with Mitsubishi products. This one re-enforces it. I liked the Denon; however, I read in many places that the DACs on board a A/V receiver is typivally alot higher quality than the ones that come on board the DVDs. Since I have a Nakamichi AV10 and LOVE IT I decided to look for a DVD which did not have an onboard decoder. Picture is great and the sound quality is good. My CD player still sounds better than the DVD for most music CDs. The DD4000 will not play CDR or CDRW either but that is fine ad I did not purchase it for music. The fact that it does not have an on board decoder I thought they may be able to put more money in other areas of the unit. It plays troublesome DVDs without a glitch. I am not disappointed with this purchase. |

Strength:
Mitsubishi quality, no-nonsense controls, simple to use, excellent performance.
Weakness:
None worth mentioning. Would be nice if you could deactivate the "zoom level" on-screen indication, so you could watch a 2.35 aspect ratio movie in a little larger window, without having "zoom level one" displayed in the lower right corner. Like I said, No real weaknesses worth talking about. After reading reviews of many DVD players right here at this site, I was very concerned about purchasing a DVD player at all. The majority of folks seemed to have problems of one kind or another - even with the well known brands. Even though it was 30-50 dollars more than comparable devices from other manufacturers, I ended up buying the DD-4000 because of the good experience I had with my Mitsubishi 32" TV. Hookup was a snap, and the initial setup (audio, video, ect, etc) worked perfectly right away. I've tried the "trouble" video disks, with no apparent glitches. I know I've only had the machine for a short while, but I'm really impressed so far! Similar Products Used: None. This is my first DVD player. |

Strength:
- Solid performance...plays all of the "problem" DVD's
Weakness:
- small remote with difficult to use buttons I bought the DD-4000 together with a VS-50605 50" Mitsubishi TV. Two primary reasons drove my purchase: 1) The DD-4000 had COAX and DTS out. 2) Mitsubishi was offering free financing until 2001. Similar Products Used: - This is my first DVD player but it blows away my Pioneer LD player as my primary video source. |

Strength:
Sharpe image, simplicity
Weakness:
none so far I have only owned the Mitsubishi DD-4000 for a few days. I did my research for DVD players before making a decision on this unit. The reason I decided on this unit is because I presently own a Mitsubishi Projection TV and a Mitsubishi VHS unit and I've been satisfied with both. I also know that Mitsubishi has a good reputation when it comes to electronic equipment. Similar Products Used: N/A |

Strength:
It works
Weakness:
Noisy, slow, poor UI, and trouble playing some discs I've been very unsatisfied with this product and would never recommend it. I have a friend who has a SonyS700 series and I like it considerably more. The Mitsubishi is slow to load discs or even turn on. The drive is noisy and a high pitched noise can be heard during the movie. I've also had considerable problems playing some discs on it. I plan to ditch this player ASAP and start researching something better. Similar Products Used: Sony |

Strength:
can't find any, other than it works
Weakness:
blotchy, everyone is one shade of yellow, tan I found this player to be one of the worst I've seen.Colors were unreal,in a bad way.All skin tones were one color of yellow, tan. No fine details. Then the sound was undynamic, and constricted, without DEEP bottom potential. Strength:
Simple, clean styling;great performance-to-price ratio.
Weakness:
None yet. Only used this player for a couple of days so far, but on the half dozen movies we have viewed so far(including "The Matrix"), the performance has been great. Seems like a great player in the sub-$300 range. Similar Products Used: Toshiba 4109 |
