Strength:
Progressive Scan & Overall video/Easy to use
Weakness:
Lacking some features from other models/loads slow/remote buttons are small Despite what I pointed out as weaknesses on this player,I think it is great overall. This is my first DVD player and I decided to buy it by researching on the internet. It has everything that one could want out of player like Dobly Digital Decoder, DTS output, HDCD, progressive scan output, nd optical/coaxial outputs. Personally, I wanted a player that had a built-in decoder and superb video quality and that is what I have. This player has other great video features like enhanced Black levels and 3D noise reduction. Unfortunately, it lacks some features from some Sony models like Jog Shuffle and SmoothScan, but these features mean nothing to me. Also, this player is extremely light, even lighter than my VCR palyer. So far, I have had no problems with the progressive scan or any other functions and the remote (while not good) is tolerable. I am still working on optimizing the sound coming out using digital wires. Overall, I love this player and would recommend it to anyone who wants one of the best players on the market. It is so easy to use that even my sister can use it and she can barely use the VCR. The only other DVD player I have seen is Sony's entry line and this player blows it away quality wise. Do yourself a favor and buy this DVD player to recieve ultimate performance and home theater quality. This is a great player if you are just entering the world of DVD. |

Strength:
Progressive Scan!!! 4:3 480i to 480p upscan too. HDCD support. On board DD.
Weakness:
No VCD support. No CDR or CDRW support. No blacklid remote. Remote button too small. Just recently picked this up. Had several hours of continues play on it. Haven't seen any problems. Matrix seem to switch to second layer perfectly. Bugs Life looks 10x better even compared playing it on a PC DVD unit. (Progressive Scan kicks!) Similar Products Used: Demo'd Toshiba 5109 & 9100 |

Strength:
Excellent quality progressive output. Price.
Weakness:
Ghastly little remote. This is a great DVD player for the price. I do have one problem. When using the progressive (component) input on my Mitsubishi WT805 HDTV, if the DVD image isnt 1.85:1 anamorphic...I cant use the progressive out because if distorts (stretches) the image...so I can only use progressive on certain dvd players with my widescreen TV. If you have a regular TV this wont be a problem. My only way to have progressive scan ALWAYS with my TV is to purchase the Panasonic H1000 DVD player. The H1000 retails for $3000. but is fantastic/incredible/audiophile grade all the way. I will probably spring for it eventually...I did find it at ChaseShop online for $1760....FYI. Strength:
Outstanding Picture, and endless audio options including 5.1 outs
Weakness:
Remote is simply terrible This is one fantastic DVD player. PS is as good as it gets, arguably better than the pioneer dv-37. I have this hooked up to a Mits 50805 and it looks great. I am looking forward to exploiting this player with a new reciever... possible eviction may result. Similar Products Used: Pioneer dv-37 |

Strength:
Great Quality PROGRESSIVE Video as well as Audio
Weakness:
Lacks CD-R capability!!! Very bad for such otherwise excellent player. I bought this about an year ago. Just as it came out. When wired to my Sony WEGA 36"(or 40" was it?) Progressive TV gives an Super Impressive Image.. The video quality is exceptional but i have not basis of comprason since i have not seen any other progressive DVD wired to Progressive TV (WEGA) anywhere else. It was worth the money at the time ~$450, and I still appreciate the SuperHQ Video clarity, and BlockBuster likes me renting piles of DVDs. Similar Products Used: NEC DV5700A PC DVD player. |

Strength:
Excellent picture quality, progressive scan, affordable price for the features
Weakness:
Worthless remote, inability to play CDR and CDRW, loads slowly formats I am very hard to impress, but so far I am really impressed with the video quality and sound from this unit playing both DVDs and CDs. I have just connected digital optical cables and the sound is amazing. Coupled with the Mit. 46807 16:9 widescreen TV, I no longer need to watch a movie in the theatre. Strength:
Great Picture and Sound
Weakness:
Bland style, remote Bought this player as a floor model for about $420. I was looking at the Sony 9000es but couldn't justify the $1100 diference. Maybe in a year or so when it gets a little cheaper. This progressive scan DVD paired with my Sony 36XBR400 delivers an impressive picture. The audio was also quite good. |

Strength:
Great picture. On board decoder is a plus for those of us who purchased a DD "ready" receiver.
Weakness:
Had the unit for 3 1/2 months when problems with the power started. Standby light went off. Unplugged and light then came back on. When you hit power button, the "Welcome to Mitsubishi" comes on and then power shuts off. In for repairs currently. As stated before remote is lacking. If the player had not developed the power problem only 3 1/2 months after purchase, would have rated this at 5 stars as the picture is just awesome. Unable to replace it at Good Guys, so out for repair. Will not give a loaner till after 10 days out! And then hit or miss if loaner will be progressive or not. Have had a Sony player for 2 years now that has never had a problem. |

Strength:
Perfect video quality in progressive mode. Solid construction.
Weakness:
Small buttons on remote make it difficult to use. This is a solid unit that plays perfect video quality in progressive scan, although some discs stretch in progressive (on my TV, a 16:9 Mits wt46805). Because of this, I used a video switch and connected both interlace and progressive connections. The interlace isn't bad, it gives me flexibility in adjusting picture format which isn't an option with progressive (at least on my TV), but the video quality doesn't compare to the progressive. Some discs that play perfelctly on it, are Jurassic Park, U2Rattle and Hum, Aliens, Mission to Mars, Stewart Little, Bicentenial Man. |
