Strength:

Low price

Weakness:

It's an Oritron

This is acually a review for the DVD600 but the technical details are the same for ALL Oritron DVD players. The number of features and chasis design is all that separates one player from the next.

That said, the 600 is a bit bare bones. The front panel lacks a display of any kind with all functions carried out via the remote and on screen displays. Video playback is sharp and sound quality is adequate (coax digital out for Dolby Digital or dts). Uncommon for a DVD player in this price range are two video outputs.

The build quality is a bit better than you might expect and this DVD player actually weighs a bit more than Toshiba's entry level players.

So, after a year it managed to perform without any problems and played DVD's without a hitch (with the exception of The X-Men).

Makes a great second player but probably not the best for full time use as part of a home theater system.
