Randy, I got my at my local Target Store with price of $449.00 plus they give you 10% off with opening credit card, and also they give you 4 DVD's on the spot if you purchase the player from there. The 4 DVD's are "Total Recall", "Stargate", "I still know what you did last summer", and "Vampires". Even thought the titles aren't all that great, their not bad for free. Its a $80.00 value in saving. So the total cost for the DVD player was $449.00-10%=$399.00-$80.00=$319.00 plus tax of course. Not bad for a 5 disk player with DTS and component video output.

I rate this very low. I agree with Donald's analysis of the LIGHTS issue. How BOGUS Panasonic. But even worse, neither the sound or picture is up to aqudiophile or videophile standards. A real let down.

Ralph, your player DOES do DTS, but the DTS has to be turned-on via the setup menu for the player itself. Hit the "ACTION" button to get to setup. I had the same problem and thought my player was broke at first. heres my post...
Just got this unit. So far its hard to figure out. Lots of lights and display but no logic to them. I played a mucic DTS cd and it played fine. Then I put in Patch Adams DTS DVD and no sound...? Finally figured out you have to turn-on the DTS sound via the setup menu on the player itself (not the DVD)even though the DTS music cd played DTS without the setting (weird). And how to get into setup mode??? Good luck finding it in the manual. Would like to hear others thoughts on this unit. I paid $499 mail order, who has it for less $$$?

comeon...you folks who think the pannasonics looks great to a one-to-one comparison with the top of the line sony and you will see the difference right away (and probably buy a Sony). i know the Pannasonic costs quite a bit less but there is a reason for that...quality...one star

I bought it but don't expect to keep it. I too was dissapointed with the pic and audio. Thanks for the tip of the new Sonys.

Video and sound are great. None of the sync problems I had with the Sony S330 plus a 5 disc changer to boot. For the price it's a winner.

Anyone waiting to see what the new generation of DVD players will still have to wait. This one will not satisfy anyone but those with the most limited feel for good audio and video.

Great quality and features for the price. Earthstations has them for $388. Nice to be able to combine the features of a CD changer and DVD player into one unit. This is my 3rd Panasonic DVD player and they keep getting better each year. 5 Stars.
