I purchased an open box version of this DVD/Divx player a month ago at Circuit City in Denver for $399, with a full warranty. The second day I used it, the disc tray failed to close completely without giving it a manual "shove", so I returned the unit to CC for an exchange, and even though it was "open box", they gave me a brand new one from a sealed box! I really appreciated that.
The new X410 has been free of defects. I have it hooked up to a Toshiba 32" 9-year old set with the S-video connection, and the picture and sound quality are excellent. The Divx set-up process was hassle free (it took 15 minutes, and was very user friendly). The remote is small and cheap, but better than the Toshiba 2109 remotes that I have seen.

I really like the five speed slow-mo in forward and reverse, as well as five speed fast forward or reverse. The freeze frame is free of jitters (which was clearly better than RCA and Proscan Divx machines that I tried, each of which had slight jitters in freeze frame). The detail/definition of the picture drops slightly in freeze/slow-mo versus normal play, which may be normal for DVD players, but I'm not sure.

Menus on-screen are easy to use, and the instruction manual is clear and concise. The unit is a bit light, but has a perfect footprint for my stack. The Virtual Surround Sound has two levels, and makes a real difference.

All in all, this is probably the best DVD/Divx player on the market now, and I would think it's a bargain at anything under $400. Seems like a Divx-enhanced version of the A-120, without component outputs or VCD compatibility, but that was not important to me. I rate it 4-stars for overall value and the Divx option, which despite the controversy, does provide convenience for movies I want to rent for only one viewing (which comprise 90% of all movies I watch). The unit loses a star due to the defective tray I had with the first unit, and the cheesy remote.

Strength:

There are many features in the DVD player

Weakness:

Broken easily

Well, I bought the player at a local Circuit City for $299 to replace my RCA DVD player to get better features for my DVD. I also want a player with a good looking remote. The first five month of use was OK. afterwards, the picture was choppy. I always need to put in the DVD movies so many times to get it to work. The last thing that happened was that the player can't read any DVD anymore. I gotta say that the product suck big time. Browse for other options before buying this stuff.

Strength:

Very good Picture Quality, and the audio is awesome.
Coaxial and Optical Audio out.

Weakness:

None

I bought it last October, and that was my second Dvd player. First was Apex but I decided to leave the All Regions feature from apex and buy something better. The difference between them was really huge. Apax was freezing on couple of movies and there was no DTD in it. Panasonic, from the time when I bought it, never froze or even slowed down, and that's what I love in it. It has an optical out and with that I was able to connect it to my audio system, the audio is great. From the time when I got it, I was telling everyone to buy it but people said that it's too expensive and that thay can have an APEX for half of the price and the all regions feature. If there is someone who cares instead of all regions, about a really good picture and audio then the PANASONIC DVD X410 it's a really good choice.

Strength:

Great Picture Quality

Weakness:

Broke down right after warranty ended (13months). Panasonic and Curcuit City did not want to help me at all. STAY AWAY WITH THIS DVD, IT SUCKS!!!

This DVD worked fine for the first 13 months. In that 13 months, I must have played no more than 20 DVD Videos. The picture freezes up on all movies now. Plays fine for the first hour of the movie, then it freezes up. Panasonic and Curcuit City did not even want to help. Please do not buy this product, IT SUCKS!!! HEED MY WARNING!!!
