Strength:
Great Unit!
Weakness:
None Great, I prefer using Coaxial out anyways, due to the fact this unit has no optical out. Works great! |

Strength:
value, above average picture quality
Weakness:
tiny remote buttons, no component video inputs A good entry level player. The picture quality is decent & although I've only had it a couple of weeks, I've encountered no problems. One big drawback is the lack of component video outputs. Many t.v's manufactured today have these inputs which deliver superior video quality, but I'm perfectly happy with the S-video connections. For less than $200, this is a quality player from a reputable manufacturer. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Not much
Weakness:
Player does not play newer dvds due to Philips not following DVD standards. Philips is trying to extort 130.00 to replace this dvd player instead of fixing it. I was given the run around for almost a week, and after being told that I would recieve a FREE upgrade, they backtracked and dug in their feet. THEY REFUSE TO CORRECT THEIR ERROR!!! They say it is a warranty issue, however they discovered the need to upgrade well within the period of my warranty and FAILED TO NOTIFY ME! Anyhow, initially I was pleased with this player until lately when I started having problems playing Gold DVD's. I will NEVER buy a Philips product again! They DO NOT stand behind their products at all and are only out to make a buck! STAY AWAY!!! |

Pretty decent DVD player. I got mine for $200 off an auction, an its worked fine. Plays VCDs well, and I really haven't had any problems with it yet. The remote kinda sucks, but overall a good value. |

Strength:
easy to use. lots of options. good quality picture
Weakness:
remote is small, buttons too close together. problems with dual layer disks and audio dropoff. originally got this player refurbished at onsale.com for 151.00. at the time i thought it was a great product. once i got it hooked up and started playing disks there were pauses and audio problems. for the most part its a great unit. easy to navagate, user friendly. i have had it for four months and i am looking for a new player already. its a great entry level unit i guess, as long as you get a 99 model. i can't find any information on firmware upgrade, the PM website is unhelpful and i haven't gotten a reply yet from the customer service technition. |

audio dropouts It's a great unit iif you're going to use it for analog audio. If you use the Digital bitstream you could have some audio dropouts. Similar Products Used: sony330, pioneer 414 |
