This remote replaced every other remote i had and it still has enough free memory to spare. I no longer have to juggle remotes and i got my coffe table back. Everyone that use it falls in love with its ease of use. Great REMOTE period. |

This is the highest value universal remote control on the market. It is fully customizable, and has also been endorsed by every member of my family -- they can now actually use the home theater system! |

The Philips Pronto is no doubt the best of the remotes of this type (which do not number many). You will have to get used to a touch-screen (you will no longer be able to operate your remotes without looking). But it is easy to program, will accept almost all of the creativity you can throw at it and definitely does the job (from further away than most remotes too). There are some interface problems (e.g., a significant amount of the screen is “wasted” on their default interface) but this list is short and will hopefully be taken care of by the next version or by a competitor. The interface with the PC via ProntoEdit is a significant plus too. A solid five (5). |

I am an Audio Enthusiast and a HIFI dealer in the uk.To this date i have used many, if not all of the system controllers on the market (Lexicon, Harman, Sony, Marantz to name a few) but until now I have never used such a user friendly, fun and yet technical to a degree which is only limited by your own imagination. This is a remote for people who want total control of their cinema, system or anything they own. Any persons interested in viewing one for themselves with view to buying one in the UK may contact me on:0161 835 1156 |

The Philips Pronto (aka Marantz RC5000) is IMHO the best universal remote on the market (under $1000). Is the remote worth $300? By itself probably not, however, the added features and customizing avenues that are possible with the ProntoEdit software (for your computer) are more than worth it! Plus you get the added bonus of help from the "Pronto Community" (www.remotecentral.com, www.prontoedit.com). NO (zip, zilch, nada) other remote has sparked such an outgrowth of support from USERS of the product. Can't get the remote to work like you want? - No problem, just ask somebody in one of the support forums and you are sure to get more help than you could ever want. :) The combination of an excellent product, with seemingly limitless setup configurations, an excellent user/support base, make for a product that I cannot do without in my home theater setup. In doubt? Then hop on over to one of the above mentioned websites and see for yourself. |

I should be committed.... After ordering my Pronto last week, I just couldn't be stopped customizing it with it's computer software. So much in fact that after just 7 days, I have almost 100 hours in customizing my interface for my Home Theater! STOP THE MADNESS!!! |

I fully agree with the previous review, there certainly is a lot of stuff on the net for this item already. One thing that really moves this to a different level is the ability to have it operate X10 devices. X10 is an system that uses your house electrical wiring to transmit signals to X10 control modules. You can (for a small expense) install X10 modules to control plugin lamps etc. and X10 switches to control things like fans, recessed lights and so on. By using already available config files for the pronto/Marantz unit you can press one button on your remote and watch the lights dim and your AV equipment come on and start playing a tape, DVD, or tune to a particular channel. To be sure, this can be done by other systems already but not this cheaply. |
