Price...Build No Urushi wood panels This Real Universal Machine surpasses all expections. The SACD, DVD-Audio & CD performance are all superb. The DV-47A needs a monitor nearby to access the Menu screen. I use a Five Inch Sony which makes things easier. The DVD-Video is also excellent with 12 bit dacs. The progressive Scan & Interlaced work well. SVHS is the way to go if your TV doesn''t accept component video. The DVD picture Menu gives You enough options to last a week. The best one I''ve seen is Mosquito noise reduction for fringing artifacts(yeah!). The default picture settngs work just fine The real standout is The UNIVERSAL capability SACD/DVD-A Multi-channel is excellent & demands new listening to 2 channel versions. Many people post & write in A/V Mags they can''t find SACD & DVD-A software I find NO problem here. Tower records CD World etc. On line Music Direct has it all. The Eagles Hotel California in Multi-channel is stunning & I heard a Zillion Times Before in 1976! Jeff Beck''s Mutli-Channel Blow By Blow SACD is another winner. Cd replay has Legato Pro & I use the Standard setting which works best...an all around performer in all respects...APEX''s universal machine is A definite Circuit City special in comparison....FF 2002 Similar Products Used: Elite DV-09, Elite DV-05, Elite DV-38A |

Strength:
Interlaced picture quality, reads DVD-A, SACD,CD,MP3
Weakness:
none so far I dont own this player, but we sell it at my job. I only played with it for couple of days, but here are some comments. First of all, picture. Video DACs on the interlaced side are great. Have it hooked up to 42" Sony plasma via S-Video and Sony actually looks desent now, prior to that Sony DVPS9000ES made it look horrible. Cant wait to see it in progressive mode. As far as audio goes, CD,DVD-Audio, and SACD playback is very clean. Using Monster m950i to B&K PT3, ST2140, and Sonus Faber Home set-up. I would have to say, this player is the best one under $1000, no question about it. Similar Products Used: Denon 2800, 4800, Panasonic dvdrp91k, Elite dv37, Sony 9000es, Toshiba sd9200, |
