To answer your question Leo FY, on the Eagles HFO dvd. Upon loading the dvd into the player, the first thing that displays is a message with two boxes on top. One says DTS, the other says 2-channel PCM (I think). Select the DTS box and you should be set. I had this problem on mine at first and thought it was the dvd player. You always need to do this upon loading a disc as the DTS setting is not the default setting on DTS encoded discs. Also make sure the player menu setup is set to output DTS and not PCM on the DTS Output setting. Good luck and enjoy! |

Strength:
Easy to setup, plays movies well
Weakness:
Remote takes some time to get use to. However, if you've had Pioneer or Yamaha products, you get use to it :-) Great value, picture and sound. This is my first DVD player and after one day of using it I am thoroughly pleased with this player. I've only tested one DVD and serveral VCD's and it has played them fine. |

Sticky tray, Build quality So far, so good. We started out with the 302, our very first taste of DVD a few weeks ago. I wasn't thrilled with the front panel-you couldn't tell if any or all of the trays were occupied. So we tried the Sony530d. The serial numbers fell into the "safe" range, but I found the set-up to be overly complicated. We didn't keep it long enough to see if it would eventually suffer from the lip-sync problems. After reading these reviews, we decided to try the Pioneer 525 based on value and consumer satisfaction. Picked it up at Circuit City for $299. Fresh out of the box, after set-up (which was so easy!) we were eager to try it out. Pushed the "eject/open" buton and the tray came out about a half an inch and would not fully open. I reached under the tray and kind of gently pulled it out and after that it worked normally. The noisy tray transport that everyone's talking about is not a big deal. After all, if you wanted peace and quiet, you wouldn't be using any audio/video equipment. The remote is fine. FYI it's also the same remote for the new 302 as well. We'll give this a run for it's money and post an up-date review soon. I give it a good rating for consumers to buy this player, but note that I would never pay a cent over $299 for it. Similar Products Used: Pioneerdv302, Sony530d |

Great picture, awesome sound, great player for price
Weakness:
Small buttons on remote, very flimsy and light Just received my Pioneer DV-525 from Value America for $100 after the Pioneer rebate! This player has great picture quality, excellent downconversion, and great sound hooked up to a Dolby Digital Receiver. It's on the light side and the remote could have bigger buttons, but for $100 this is a great value. Similar Products Used: Samsung 709, Sony DVP-S550D, Sony DVP-S530D |

I'm not one to skew review scores by rating a product I don't own, but I think this deserves attention. |
