Strength:
stores 5 DVDs
Weakness:
Does not play CDs so you will need a CD player or a DVD player that does. Unit plays most DVDs ok, missing navagation buttons on the front is a mistake. Unit no longer plays CDs. The only thing Pioneer has on their support page is that it's "humidity related." Since the DVDs play and the CDs don't that doesn't seem reasonable. Leaving the unit on overnight playing DVDs and then trying CDs didn't help. Similar Products Used: DVD/CD player on PC |

None on the P.O.S.
Weakness:
Too numerous to mention, lets start with the fact the damn thing doesn't work. The BBB finally forced Pioneer to act like human beings intent on staying in business. I called them and filed a complaint against Pioneer. 3 weeks later the same a$$hole that had been giving me the run-around for 4 months called me up and in an apologetic tone, offered me a full refund on my purchase. In the end I'm out several rounds of shipping, gas and travel to the nearest authorized service center and months of aggravation. I'm exactly the kind of customer Pioneer wants, I'm a professional with a good income and an audio enthusiast. They could've had a loyal customer, instead they now have a man who wouldn't buy a Pioneer product if they were giving them away for pennies on the dollar. I hate them, I dispise them and will take any opprotunity I can to savage them. Similar Products Used: Nothing similar, everything else is superior. |

Strength:
Good picture and good sound. 'Progressive Scan' picture is good...even if it isn't 3:2 pull down.
Weakness:
Amazingly crappy remote. Fast-forward and rewind skip-aren't a smooth viewing process. Running P.S. on a Mits 55" HDTV. I set up my Panasonic using S-Video vs the Pioneer on Component P.S. Running the same DVD movie in two different players at the same time, I compared the picture. It was a very obvious win for the Pioneer. Colors seem more solid...and a bit deeper. Detail is much better. Much less grainy. The sound seems better...but I have no measurable proof that that's the case. Could be my imagination. Overall...it's a great unit for the money. Most definitely not 'Top-Of-The-Line' but I am very happy to keep it. Similar Products Used: Previous DVD player was a Panasonic A110 |

Strength:
Ease of operation. Picture quality and sound.
Weakness:
Slow moving mechanism to switch between discs. This unit is defective. I first had trouble initially with hole no.5 and it went away. Should have heeded my warning. Now, all 5 slots will not read DVDs. Very disappointing. I am awaiting direction on where to return it to have it replaced. I will reserve final judgement when I report back on customer service and the replacement. If it happens again, this product is a lemon in the worst way. Buyer beware. If it looks too good to be true, it usually is. Final judgement reserved until I receive replacement... Similar Products Used: Toshiba, Sony, JVC |

I am constantly amazed by the stoners that get on here and rant and rave about a broken unit. Here's a thought, SEND IT BACK! I know that the warranty is honored and when the unit has been fixed then you might be able to give an honest account of your experience including the service you received. Either way, you totally throw off the balance and make it hard for someone to get an honest picture. |

Strength:
Great Unit when it works. Love the 5 disc and CDR capability.
Weakness:
Will not reliably play CD's This unit functioned perfectly for 5 weeks. Then it began to eject CD's. When attempting to play a CD, the door would open and not play. Took it to a factory authorized repair center on 6/6/01. Still has not been repaired as of 7/9/01. They claim that they are waiting on a laser from Pioneer. Pioneer "customer service" said that since I purchased this unit from a dot com company and not an "authorized" dealer that the product is not covered by the warraty and that the repair center is not required to repair it at all. I am curious as to how this will eventually be resolved. As of now I am withouot a unit and have no idea how or when it will ever be repaired. I have not contacted E-Tronics because I didn't want to send it half way across the country for repair. Needless to say, I do not recommend this unit or any Pioneer product at this time. |

Strength:
5 disk changer, Progressive scan, Remote
Weakness:
Hums when it runs Excellent. Read some reviews here and was worried about the quality. However the price was right and the two key features (5 disk changer, progressive scan) just aren't available anywhere else. So I took a chance. I've been thrilled with the results. Strength:
Picture and sound ...wonderful...with 32" Toshiba TV...not much different than HDTV. Never cared about the bells and whistles anyhow.
Weakness:
I suppose the remote could be alot better, but I like it better than previous Proscan's remote. Surprised to read many of the negative reviews here. This unit is super quiet, outstanding picture (component out) and sound (optical out) Similar Products Used: 1 year old crapped out Proscan DVD (no comparison) |

Too numerous to mention Well, Pioneer finally made good on their promise to send me a refurbished unit to replace my new one. Guess what? Can you guess what I got in the box those a$$holes sent me? Sure you can guess. I'll give you a hint, its what all Pioneer Service Reps should be when found on the side of the road in a twisted wreck..... that's right. The refurbished replacement they sent me was DOA. Similar Products Used: None, thank God... |

Strength:
-DVD with good quality progressive scan
Weakness:
no zoom (who cares about this) Yes that's right $200 for a DVD-Changer with progressive scan. This costs less than some hifi vhs machines...certainly less than most single progressive scan dvd's. Great sound and picture (beautiful picture through component video input). Playing CD-R is a must and this does the trick without exception. Highly reccomend this...good job Pioneer.
