Strength:

Zoom, 18X fast-forward, DTS, CD-Rs sound great

Weakness:

Skips on MP3s, does not automatically remember last audio setup.

Receiver Yamaha: HTR 5250
TV: Toshiba 36"
Center Channel: Bose
Fronts: Wharfedale Emerald
Rear: Wharfedale Diamonds

When MP3s play through this player, they sound outstanding. However, they started skipping like crazy today. I am using cheapo CDs that were 50 for $14.99. That may be an issue. Recently heard that some Sony CD-Rs work like a charm. May try it today. May not. CD-Rs recorded directly from .wav files sound flawless. But the DTS/DVDs look and sound fantastic. Great zoom and fast-forward features. Wish I had a better receiver, but all in time...

Strength:

good idea

Weakness:

poor execution of good idea

yep everyone who says it skips and freezes is right on the mark. It is a very annoying little unit. Like I said be for being able to play mp3's cdrs and cdrws is a great Idea, but this unit is so poorly executed you may as well by a dvd player that is cdr capable and stick to leaving your mp3s on you desktop. It's name suggests where this thing belongs, not in retail.

Strength:

Excellent picture quality, very easy to set up for first use. This unit that I have does play mp3's, and fairly well too (only an occaisonal skip).

Weakness:

Despite the nice overall experience it provides, it does seem to skip sometimes while playing DVD movies. Not too much to be concerned about, but just often enough to be noticeable.

I would reccommend this player to anyone on a tight budget who wants a DVD player that will play movies, and the occaisonal music CD. I haven't yet tried out the optical and digital audio outputs, because I don't have a surround system. I would have to agree that tech support and information about Samsungs products can be hard to get to, so don't get involved with this if you are used to quick and effective service. If you are looking for the highest quality player available, look elsewhere.
