Strength:
Low Price, easy setup, no external hookup for DVD and receiver
Weakness:
Less A/V inputs; sandwith of DVD player and receiver This product is good for low budget. I got this product for $499 from WARDS!, which is a good deal. DVD, receiver and 5.1 speakers in one package is good for hookups. You save on monster cables as DVD is internally hooked up to receiver. |

Strength:
This product has everything you need in one package. You get a good dvd player, 6 speakers (one is a sub) and a Dobly Digital decoder. The playback of DVDs looks great on my 5 year old 27" tv. My fisrt movie was the Matrix. It looked grate and the sound was excelent. My living room is 12x17. At medium level the total sound quality is sufficient to make the realism of the movie come alive.
Weakness:
When I played the THX intro, the subwoofer could not faithfully reproduce the true base at high volumes. Be careful with the remote. If it gets damaged and you need another one, they are hard to come by. My replacement has been on backorder for 3 months. I have given up and am now serching for a unversial eremote that will work with the player. This is a hard task since very few remotes contain all the buttons the original had. VERY IMPORTANT: do not place any other device on the top of this unit. It needs good air flow across the top to stay cool. If the unit gets to hot, it will freeze while playing a DVD. When it cools down, it starts working again. I had placed my VCR on top of it. Over all this is a great package. For $500 you can not beat it. If you want the ultimate in home theater, this is not for you. But if you are on a budget anbd want to watch DVD and have the 5.1 sound that goes with it, this is your product. |
