Strength:

Nice detail, dynamics and dimensionality. Silly good for the price makes it an ideal choice for budget systems or a second system or office system. Benefits from better cables and electronics. Don't be afraid to pair it with cables 4-5X the price.

Weakness:

At this price none!

First let me state that this review is based solely on use as a CD player only with Redbook CD's. That said, this is a silly good CD player! How good? Good enough to use with a $4,000+ tube amp and $3,000 speakers! I have owned many CD players and DAC/Transport combinations. A recent loss of employment forced me to downgrade my system once again which led to the purchase of this player.

I was previously using an Audio Mirror non o/s DAC with a Marantz CD 63SE player as a transport as digital playback system. As good as that was, this player is even better! Used with high quality I/C's and associated equipment it presents a detailed, dynamic grain free sound. If you are in the market for a CD player for a 2nd, 3rd or office system look no further! While it will sound good with budget gear it will really shine with better quality cables and electronics.

I have paired this in a system with solid state amps and integrateds, and tube amps and integrateds. And it performed well in all. Don't be afraid to pair it with high quality cables and eclectronics.

Strength:

Not expensive, returnable (one hopes)

Weakness:

Unrelenting green tone ruins the entire experience. Won't even do for the kid's room.

Adequite audio is overshadowed by the absolute worst picture I have ever seen in a commercial DVD player. The picture quailty is worse than the Coby unit I got free for attending a timeshare presentation. I purchased the unit yesterday, and spent a full day exploring all the picture options until I was finally convinced that it really was that bad. I will be returning it tomorrow. Unless you REALLY like green people, stay away.
