Strength:

The picture quality is excellent

Weakness:

Misalignment that gives "C13:00" and "No Disc" errors. About 1/3 of the DVD movies are unwatchable.

My Sony DVP-S360 works well when it plays a DVD, but like most of the reviewers on this site, it fails to play many DVDs. Please look at the review by "sony hacker" for the Sony DVP S560, which gives instructions for calibrating the unit without special tools. The instructions also work for this player. They helped me substantially, and the player is working satisfactorily for now. I expect that recalibration will be necessary periodially. I would not recommend purchase of this product or any of the Sony DVD players that use the same basic mechanism (the 330, 360, 530, 440, 560, and 570). I would still purchasing Sony equipment, but I would wait until it is out a year or so and has a 100 or so reviews on file.

Strength:

Beautiful picture and great sound when it works.

Weakness:

It''s starting to work less and less.

I bought all the essential pieces for an excellent home theater. Circuit City suggested the DVP360 model as one of the best.It was....for about 10-11 months when I started receiving the "C:13" and "no disc" messages. Sometimes it will just freeze and start breaking up digitally or jump ahead a couple of chapters. For the last 9-10 months I''ve been coaxing it along; getting it started by pressing "start" over and over again. Sometimes it works flawlessly and other times it won''t even start, even with a new dvd. It''s starting to get embarrasing when I invite friends over to see a movie and then have to switch to a video cassette. I''ve had good luck with some Sony products in the past but this model is surely a class action lawsuit in the making. I think I''ll just buy everything Onkyo for now on and skip the Sony products. Please add me to the list of complaining customers and good luck with the lawsuit.

Weakness:

Perhaps the biggest weakness is that Sony doesn''t believe in taking care of their customers by rectifying this problem. Maybe the DVSP 360 is a product of planned obselesence.

Well, after just 18 months my player finally failed with the infamous C:0013 error message. This is very dis- heartening for me because the player was only used a few times a month. Sony just lost another customer. My only regret is that I also purchased a sony ES reciever ($1500.00) as well as a sony RPTV ($2995.00). Bye, Bye Sony!

worked great

Weakness:

stopped working

Well another person for the c 13 problem. last night i was watching a movie i had no prior problems, all of a sudden the picture froze, then it came back with teh c 13 message. ever since then it will not recognize ANY disc, i got a cleaner disc will not see it. i tried the calibration suggestion that was posted about 50 posts back by now i think. but i''m intersted in the law suit so i''m on board, if you want to cantact me email me at ibanez7997@aol.com put dvd as teh subject so i don;t delete it by mistake, and as with for most of us out there, sony has lost another custumer, too bad for them because i almost bought about 10k worth of products to get my small video/film company off the ground now i''m concidering looking into getting other equipment instead of the broadcast sony equipment

Strength:

HAD a great picture and audio for the money.

Weakness:

Broke after 13 months...FYI that is OUT of warranty!

I get the 13 error as well ocasionally ,however, now the player will not play any dvd at all but instead skips every few seconds. This player was great until about 13 months after I bought it. I HATE THIS PLAYER!!! Now I have to go buy a new one...

For those of you who have had the dreaded C13:00 problem, I have GREAT NEWS! We have a lawyer and a class action suit ready to go!!! I need some people who are willing to volunteer to reach out to everyone on this forum and provide them with the details for getting in touch with the attorney. I cannot do it alone. Email me if you wish to help do this! The firm that I have engaged just settled a similar case with Panasonic/JVC for (suprise!) defective DVD players.

Strength:

Good picture, good sound, read all my DVD''s

Weakness:

Life span short than a fly

We like the most folks at this site, I also have seen the "No Disk" error message. I''ve had the unit for 10 months and during that time it work just fine, I was very please. It appears Sony didn''t learn anything from the US auto makers of the 1970''s 80''s, if you build crap sooner than later people are going to look some where else. Let''s here more about the class action lawsuit.
