I wrote to Sony at the e-mail address that was provided a couple of reviews below, and received no reply. They don''t appear to be interested in keeping entry level customers. I quess that they don''t realize that entry level customers often grow into higher level customers if they are treated well. |

Well, until it stopped working, a good unit. Now, none. How about this ad: won''t play CD, CD-V, CD-R, DVD, MP3, CD-RW, DVD-Audio. Only consumes 6 watts in "standby" mode
Weakness:
Hmm...a product that fails to work after only 22 months. Just stumbled across this site as my Sony DVP S-360 stopped reading disks yesterday (displays "NO DISC" error). Nice. A product purchased from a reputable manufacturer that just ceases to work 22 months after purchased. No more Sony for me, either. |

Strength:
Works well if you keep it cool. Great DVD player if you own a repair shop.
Weakness:
Heat problems due to poor design. Laser diode goes out of allignment easy, so one has to baby this machine. Sign me up for the 13:00 club! Unit finally died after 13 months. Power supply blew! Unit seems to have a over temperature problem. After it plays for over 2 hours, it starts to misread the DVD''s or any disk for that matter :( Similar Products Used: Several others |

I FIXED IT! I ran the diagnostics formula found deep in the reviews (THANKS, BY THE WAY!) and finally got ALL of my DVDs to play! Even Moulin Rouge, which has never worked on the POS. It didnt work at first. I just kept using different dual layer discs in the Auto Adjustment routine, and finally hit it with Eyes Wide Shut. No C:13:00 errors! Now, I am basking in very recent success, and very well may be celebrating too soon, but it feels good! All Sony did was tell me my lens was dirty, and would not admit to a mechanical defect. AND, just because I got mine working, Sony is definately not off the hook. The consumer shouldnt have to do what I just did to get their year old player to work. But I wanted to give a little hope to everyone... Heres a copy of what I found on this site: ----------------- Summary: I have a Sony 560 but this works for 330,360,530,550,560,570 I posted the following earlier for sony 560: ============================================ Like others, I started having problems with playing DVDs 6 months ago when it switches from layer 0 to layer 1 (usually happens at the later part of the movie -- picture freezes up and then it jumps to the next chapter or it just dies). You then have to start playing the DVD again from the beginning, depending on your luck, you may be able to get pass the problems and finish up the movie. This problem has been getting worst and nothing I could do to fix the problem. Last week, I used a DVD lens cleaner disc -- the one with the brush -- to clean the SONY 560 and guess what...... it stopped playing music CD and gave me "NO DISC" error every time I put a music CD in it. I was disappointed and I was SO ready to throw this thing out of the window. Then I thought to myself "It was playing music CD ok until I cleaned it with the cleaner disc. Maybe the brush pushed the lens too much while it was cleaning the lens and caused the laser coupler out of focus. The reason why the player gives out "NO DISC" or "C13:00" errors is because it couldn''t identify what''s being played -- meaning it couldn''t "SEE" -- just like a person with vision problems trying to read without proper glasses". I went on the internet (where else ) to search for articles related to Sony lens adjustment, and sure enough I found a web page which teaches you how to get to the secret "Diagnostic Mode" and how to perform an "A |

Weakness:
doesn''t play audio cd''s. My dvd player starts skipping and pausing on audio cd''s after about an hour of playing. However, it plays dvds just fine. Is it on the verge of completely breaking down? Should I start looking for a new dvd player? Similar Products Used: sony cd players |

Weakness:
poorly designed. numerous component failure. I''ve purchased Sony products before and I never had any problems with any of them until I bought this player. After the 3 month warranty expired, I started experiencing picture fade problems. Then a few weeks later discs are not being recognize. I had it repaired costing me $100.00 then a couple months later same problems. |

Good Picture and sound. Sony DVD Player Model DVPS-360 player failed with "Insert Disc" Error. This is the second Sony DVD player that has failed this way. The previous model was DVP-S330. No way we''ll be buying another Sony. |

Good Picture
Weakness:
The Good Picture lasted for 30 hours before the unit died. I have had this player for about 1 year and have been receiving the same problems. Called up Tech Support today and told the lady that I am on the same boat as all of you other customers and she told me that it doesnt matter and that since the warranty was over there is nothing they could do. The supervisor left me an email address SOS@mail.sel.sony.com . Havent emailed them yet because as far as I read it seems useless. Count me in on any class action suit. |

not any, no longer a sony fan.
Weakness:
The name sony Same as all the others, product does really well at showing c13.00 no disc sign. Not much of a paper weight, not heavy enough. Dogs won''t even chew on the cord. Product must really suck. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
SONY- the brand name that audio enthusiasts go by... or used to go by.
Weakness:
Did not live up to expectations or the name. As many have said before me, this product is really makes a long-time SONY customer think twice. One doesn''t expect this out of a name we have all grown to trust over so many years. This DVD player is not money''s worth at all. |
