Strength:

Lot of features available form remote, good picture and sound. Happy with it.

Weakness:

Have had lip sync problem once or twice. Wish the remote lit up. Lots of buttons, close together

Bought at an "open box" sale at Best Buy. Good player, lots of fetures that my RCA did not have. Much better remote than RCA but hard to distinguish buttons in the dark.

Strength:

Excellent picture and audio

Weakness:

sporatic lip sync problems

I have own the Sony 530d for about 6 months. At first I did encounter eractic lipsync problems on a few dvds but for the last 50 dvd plays no problem...seriously. I have read the reviews of other units like Toshiba,Panasonic and Proscan and they all have their good and bad points. But all in all its a decent dvd player. The picture quality is sharp and crisp and the audio makes you feel like your right in the middle of the action. IMHO. The price fit my budget $400US. The only problem I have is ergonomic. The play button is to close to the dvd slid drawer. It would have been better placed higher on the unit. Overall I am happy with the unit. My little girl just loves the Mummy dvd. Due to eariler lip sync instances I can't give a 5 star rating so I'll give it a 4OR.

Strength:

Good picture. Nice features.

Weakness:

Doesn't play CD-R's. No zoom.

This DVD is good. I mean the only problem I have with it is that it doesn't play CD-R's, meaning anyone that records their own CD's will have problems.

Built in Digital Decoder. Plays mostly all DVD formats.

Remote control is weak though. Buttons are all bunched together and even though I have a SONY TV, I have problems using the remote on my TV.

Overall, a good DVD player.

Strength:

DTS works fine.

Weakness:

Sometime it lost sound even for a new DVD disk, but play again would be fine.
Never get a full screen on a 4:3 TV, all 3 modes it has does not work with my TV SONY 36" XBR200.
Does not play Super VCD disks and CD-R disks. VCD picture is very poor if the VCD disk is dirty, I think it do not have any data correction ability at all.

It is too expensive for a machine as this one which has so many limitations.

Strength:

Nice user interface, good quality on clean discs

Weakness:

Lip sync problem, Disc dirty problem

I used this product for 2+ years. It always had the infamous lip sync problem, but in the last year I have been able to play less and less discs with it, as it keeps on telling me the disc is dity.
This happens now on BRAND NEW discs also....Many friends of mine have reported similar problems with their Sony players (regardless of model), so I am attributing this to poor design of the Sony engineers....
Hence the one-star rating.. I wish I didn't have to do this, because I have always been happy with Sony products, but players that have these problems, should have been recalled....
Two thumbs down to Sony for this one.
