Firstly, i've had this player for just over a month and have really put it through its works.. Watched over 30+ movies on it with only a small problem on Star Trek:Insurection. Now, it was a horrible movie anyway so I couldn't care less considering the problems that people I know are having with other players. No layer switching delay, even older movies look excellent such as The Towering Inferno, Slap Shot & Blazing Saddles. I looked long and hard at almost all the players in this price range and it can't be beat as far as I'm concerned. Paid $330.00 w/shipping myself and it is really the best part of my home theatre. Plays CD audio just as good as my 200 Disc Sony CDX-255. I guess the only problem I do have is no backlit remote. But I use my receiver (Sony 825) remote anyway for everything so its not that much of a concern. |

I upgraded from a first generation Panisonic.I don't use the DD decoder as my preamp has one. I have not encoutered any lip-sync problems at all and I've watched approx. 20 movies since I purchased this unit Mid June. The audio in cd music is very good, great soundstage and imaging. I'm using A B&K avp2030 and a ava5000 amp. 4 paradigm ref. studio 20s + the matching center with a M&K sub. This is a excelent setup and its on par with systems twice the money. I love this sony player. |

I've had this unit for about 2 months. Gorgeous picture and decent sound. I have not noticed the lip sync problem that other have encountered. Perhaps the best quality about the 530 is the menu speed (much faster than any other I have tested in this price range). Considering the overall high quality given the price I'll give a high rating here. |

Two weeks ago, after reading about all the lip sync problems with the Sony, I went to Sears and came home with a Toshiba 2109. While I was at the mall I bought the current Sound and Vision mag. I came home and without opening the box, sat down to read the magazine and was surprised to find a review of both the Sony and the Tosh. Well, after reading the reviews, I brought the Toshiba back unopened and ordered the SOny from JandR for $324 delivered. After 2 weeks and about 10 movies, I think I made the right choice. Picture is absolutely superb! No lip sync problems so far. I am still using my prologic receiver, so maybe the problem lies with the decoder in the unit. When I do upgrade I'm going to use the decoder in the receiver and not use the 5.1 outputs on the dvd player. |

I have had the Sony Dvd 530d for a couple of months now and have truly enjoyed it. I bought i from Circuit City after the guy dropped the price to $319. It doesnt necessarily live up to my laserdisc player to which i truly admire and i am currently looking for another one. I have noticed the lip sync problem once and also noticed that the Criterion of Armageddon has a bad glitch right before track 17 it is minor but annoying. Other than the gorgeous picture and slightly less than adequate sound( compared to my ld) i really enjoy the player alot. |

I recently purchased this player from Shopping.com. Good player. Previously, I had the DVPS330 model that I purchased from Good Guys...ripoff and returned! I noticed many of you having this lip sync problem, I've seen this with Mercury Rising when I watched it on the 330 model. With the 530, I've had none of those problems, then again I didn't watch Mercury Rising on it. Well, I hope its an issue with the DVDs and not DVD players. Otherwise, I think this is a great DVD player with a really cool blue neon light. |

I Just bought the S530D about a month ago.I was very happy with it until I noticed the "lip-synch problem" that others have mentioned. It was painfully obvious while I was watching "She's all that". What is the deal with this? I am not happy unless everything is perfect. Can anyone offer some advice on this? I will probably call Sony to complain, anyway. The picture quality is outstanding, nonetheless. |
