YO YEE,That review is truly what I see.Unless you see all other players hooked up to the same TV which is calibrated correctly. How can you see a huge differance. There has been a bunch of reviews on this very same topic and they all say the same thing. Is it worth it to shell out 600.00 to 4000.00 extra for a tiny bit of differance on picture quality.I myself and many others would rather put our money on something that will make a big differance.I`m not saying it`s not a great DVD player.I`m saying that those of us who are not as financially blessed as others might do better on upgrading something else of more significance.P.S. I`M NOT SMOKING ANYTHING |

I had the 7700 since Jan 10th 1999. Payed about 900 for it and so far I am more then pleased with it. |

The new 3. generation sony dvd player 7700, is the best player that I've ever seen (concidering it's price tag offcourse). In my belief there are a few players that are better on the market, but they cost mutch more. You might take Faroudja, Harman Kardon Signature or Denon's new DVD player, they are stunning players, but are they worth the increase in price? But if your planning on using below 1500£ (or 2000$), I would go for the Sony. I have it myself, and I'm delighted. It's also a very detailed cd player. |

Strength:
Great picture, no grain, remote easy to use, sharp with super-saturated colors!
Weakness:
Well... I can't think of any, other than the case doesn't match the plum-colored wall paper in our TV room! Great unit! Minimal pixellation, even on a 32" set, the picture is super smooth, yet sharp. Handles disc damage very well, very clean theater-like sound. When I hooked this baby up to my JVC television, I couldn't believe how great the picture was, almost like looking at film. And I'm a professional photographer - you know, visually oriented, so I'm pretty picky! Hats off to Sony on this product! By the way, she's going on her third year and no problems. Similar Products Used: Toshiba, RCA (And, hey, there's no comparison.) |

Badass!!! Hey I found a good place to buy DVDS I had an old Sony DVP500 it was a great player but it couldn't play DTS. So, I decided (painfully) to trade in my old player for a new one that will replace my old Nakamichi CD player and DVP500. After much research and asking, I decided to get the expensive DVPS7700. From the moment I brought it home and played my favorite DVDs and CDs I knew I am more than pleased. The picture quality is superb! The sound is astounding! There must be better players out there but if anyone is thinking about getting this machine, go buy it and enjoy it. |

Have had the 7700 up and running for a month now. I previously used the Panasonic A310 for both audio and DVD. It was a very fine video unit and great for audio with the latest Burr/Brown DACs. the 7700 exceeds the Panasonic and the Elite DV-09(which I demo'd in my home for a week) in every way. I have always liked the pix quality/color saturation of the lower end Sony DVD players, but the "in your face" impact of the 7700 is astounding. I now see what all the rage is about regarding this being "the" reference DVD player. No cons at all that I can see. It has the quickest menu and search engine I have ever seen. The forward and reverse scan is something you have to see to believe. It looks like full motion video through a digital video camera with a slow shutter speed setting-it's that good. I got mine from a very reputable dealer, Camera World of Oregon(www.cameraworld.com) I have been ordering from them for years, and they are an authorized Sony Mail Order Dealer. The price of $860 plus $45 for next day air was very good, I think. |

Strength:
Excellent Audio and Video. Price. Build Quality.
Weakness:
Remote Control. There's no button for immediate rewind and forward. Video part is excellent. Hard to find a better one even with 5 times the price. |

Strength:
Great picture quality, awesome audio quality, good design and build
Weakness:
Does not play al my cdr's Well, I first bought a Pioneer 626 DVD, but I disliked the lousy mechanism (in still scenes I could clearly hear it). So I returned it and bought this one (after reading some reviews here), and I'm really glad with it. It's one of the best DVD players there is. Only minor point is that it does not play all my cdr discs without problems (like Kodaks). But further a really good product: and easily to operate. Similar Products Used: Pioneer DVD 626 |
