Full disclosure: I am a home theater consultant. But I try to be objective in my reviews. The 999ES has excellent progressive scan output. It is at least as good as my DLP projector. The Super Audio cd playback is exceptional. The SACD playback is like listening to an entirely new sound system. And I have really nice equipment. The build quality is also above par. There are two weaknesses. First, the player is finicky. It will not play discs that are scratched. I have had other players that were more accepting of discs with wear and tear. The second weakness is the delay in ejection. You often have to wait a few seconds after pressing the eject button for the disc to appear.
