Strength:
540lines, 10bit/54MHz Video DAC, and 192kHz/24bit Audio DAC
Weakness:
No DTS Decoder for DVD-A, Bass management only 120Hz for small This DVD player rocks! I have watched Lord Of The Rings Extended Cut and it was awsome looking. Same with Star Wars. It works beautifully with my Yamaha RX-V1300 A/V Receiver. Though my tv is old and not progressive scan the 540 lines of resolution are sweet, I may be upgrading to a Samsung 27in HDTv. I haven't had a chance to listen to any DVD-Audio discs yet but that will have to wait until the next review. Similar Products Used: Sony DVP-NS300 (sucked it went just over a year) |

Strength:
Easy to hook up. Initial set up easy. After reading the manual and understanding features, getting the picture and sound quality I needed was simple and made the overall viewing experience incredible.
Weakness:
None so far. 1st DVD player I've owned. Hook up was simple: into our Toshiba 50" widescreen HDTV; using component video and LR audio cables to the TV. The audio out from TV going to an older receiver (surround) which powers a old but BIG set of Sony speakers and also to a Kicker speaker. End result, it sounds great and looks fantastic. Went out the day I hooked it up and rented 5 DVDs from Hollywood video. Played them all with no problems. It's only been a few days but, I LOVE IT !! Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
cannot comment due to lack of time.
Weakness:
As I had mentioned, always fades to black while watching a movie. This is my second machine in less than 5 days! Doesn't matter what movie I'm playing, old or new, the machine goes to black screen while viewing. You can still hear the audio, but no picture for a few seconds. Strength:
1. Ease of operation. 2. Great picture. 3. Great DVD-audio sound (also a nice CD player).
Weakness:
None that I have found. Great DVD-A player for the money. I have it matched with a Toshiba 36N81 Cinema Series TV and a Onkyo 575 Receiver in a surround sound system and with progressive scan and component video it has a fantastic picture. The DVD-A high resolution sound is fantastic. This is my third DVD-A player, fourth DVD player, and I bought it for a summer cabin - was surprised at its quality performance, especially for the price. It is an improvement over the earlier SD 4700, SD 5700 players in that you can now overide the prologic feature to allow pure stereo sound when called for. The earlier models turned stereo into the prologic mode, which is OK for video but not necessarily for audio. Similar Products Used: JVC-723 DVD-A player, Toshiba SD 5700 DVD-A player. |
