Strength:
Excellent roundup of features for the price, full controls on face of player, good remote design
Weakness:
Really slow startup, very unforgiving of dirty or scratched discs I got the Zenith 2200 through a special deal through Buy.com, where I buy 5 specific DVDs for $100 and get the player for $100. It was perfect because I'd been looking for features including 4x selectable zoom, 24x speed fast-forward, and N22 Spatializer ("fake surround sound"). The Zenith outdid all the DVD players I'd looked at, with 16x zoom anywhere on the screen, and 100x fast-forward. It also had a lot of functions on the face of the unit, which is important if you temporarily misplace the remote or sit close enough to the TV that the movie burns into your retinas. The 2200 is very unforgiving of marks on music CDs, skipping atrociously, but once I clean the CD it works like a charm. I've played several dozen movies on it now, and only one skips, "Deep Blue Sea," but skips almost an entire chapter. "Matrix" works beautifully. I love the features, couldn't believe the price, and I would only upgrade to a DVD player that offered the same and more. skips, had it into zenith for repair, still skips The worst product I have ever purchased. This product should have been recalled and replaced by zenith. Will never buy another zenith product.Skips. Takes forever for disc to load and start playing. Have had it for about 10 months. Sent it to zenith factory service for repair but it still skips. Similar Products Used: none |

Strength:
Inexpensive DVD, lots of features not found in a product of this price line.
Weakness:
I haven't personally found any. I have read these reviews about this unit and they are scary. The unit I own has never demonstrated any of these traits, but I'm not going to say it won't. I have played Matrix through it many many times and have not had a skip or delay. Many features not found on more expensive models. Would be nice to have a digital out instead of coaxial. I would recommend this unit to anyone who wants to watch DVDs and not spend alot of money. |

Strength:
Price, features for the price, good manual and I find the remote to be very functional
Weakness:
None for the money....you get what you pay for...if you are mad because something you want is not there..you are an idiot! Great little DVD player. Disregard many of the post above that tear this unit to shreads...they are part of the "mine broke so yours will too" camp which likes to preach doom and gloom if they have had a bad time. Took this unit out of the box about 3 months ago and have not had a single problem. The unit works flawlesly! I think the Matrix is a stupid movie, but I rented it just to try since it seems to be the "benchmark" for players. My Zenith took the Matrix and asked "what's next!!!". It had no problems and neither will yours if you get this fine little unit. Easy set up and it has an extra set of audio out jacks in the back which most units don't and that I found very useful. Don't buy into the "technogeeks" crys that they can't watch Keanu 50 times a day!! This is a good unit that plays all movies I have put to it perfectly every time!! |

er.......nothing..
Weakness:
its a piece of s*** I bought this dvd player about 2 mouths ago after sending a phillips/magnivox back cuz it kept messing up.....well this one sucks even worse! It is loud, remote sucks, and it skips like an Mo Fo on the Matrix and even worse on starship troopers!...sometimes it wont even come on when I put in starship troopers. And the worst thing is it takes WAY too long to even get started...when you put the disc in it sits there and spins...and spins...and spins....and then after about 3 or 4 minutes at spits the disc out and says it has a disc error! Damn this thing to hell! I hope you have not bought one yet and this message helps you on your quest for a dvd player... Similar Products Used: philips magnivox |

Strength:
The zoom feature but other than that, not too many strengths.
Weakness:
The remote is hard to use, problems playing lots of movies and had to be sent back for firmware update, red light that stays on when it's off, slow loading times, and it's not attractive. Overall this player had way too many flaws on right out of the box. It was given to me as a gift, and I haven't got to use it much. If the firmware update fixes everything, then it could be considered as a good starter player. Similar Products Used: Philips |

Strength:
Low cost, zoom.
Weakness:
cheap design, skips on some movies (especially dual layer ones) I got this player for $120 which i felt was a good deal. Although this player is not great, it's fine for someone just starting to get into DVD who doesn't want to spend a lot of money. But if you have the money and are willing to pay I recomend getting something else. I has OK features but the skipping can be annoying. Zenith is offering a free firmware upgrade that is supposed to help with the skipping problem. Similar Products Used: Toshiba 2109 |

Strength:
Great basic DVD and excellent price/performance ratio
Weakness:
nothing significant, wish it could play VCD This is my first DVD player. I bought it to watch some movies. DVD players are like VCRs: price will drop rapidly and more advanced features will be added to future models therefore it is better to purchase a basic unit and get a good one may be 3-6 months later. It has been a nice surprise for me that this Zenith player handles about 50 DVD movies without any problems, The Matrix included !! S-Video, DTS output etc are nice features for this price range. Apparently Zenith has corrected their problems in this built and it performs flawlessly. I'll buy another one if needed. |
