Unexpensive DVD player with all the features you need; 4x,16x zoom, good slow motion, good search, different screen selection from a one button press, etc. if you do not need the internal Digital or DTS decoder. Good sound and good image clarity. Might not be good for peoples who have very sophisticated system with RGB connectors, but for a low to medium budget, very good purchase.

It freezes up on some movies. The matrix was un watchable. Zenith knew of this problem but was still selling it. I had to ship it back to Zenith to have it repaired as their authorized service dealer could not fix it. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still waiting for it to be returned

hmmmm it was only 175.00 plus 25 for shipping...and it plays cd-r's

skips alot...the video and audio did not match when i was wathcing my g0ddamn sex and the city dvd....and here's one that i have not seen anyone complain about yet....it makes a LOUD HIGH PITCHED NOISE for the first 15-20 mins it is turned on??!!!

being that it was cheap and it was my 1st DVd player id say it's good for someone who doesnt give a sh1t or a child...but for someone that wants quality dont buy it.

annoying skipping/freezing problems

I actually got this player as a gift, which I was happy about. Then I tried to play movies like Army of Darkness and The Matrix, and started having strange skipping/freezing problems. Looking through some of the reviews others have posted, there seems to be some sort of firmware update, yet I registered the player 6 months ago and never heard a word from Zenith about it. If anyone can tell me who to contact I'd appreciate it...

this product has alot of problmes that need tending to and should not be purchased. Zenith hs to work out the bugs of the dvd players that they release before they release them.

Christmas gift 1999. Skipped on every dvd that i played. Returned to Circuit City . Sent out for check up. Returned to me with this quote, "They watched two movies and couldn't find anything wrong". Does anyone know of a repair shop that will watch two movies to test a product? Still skips and i'm returning again. Stay AWAY from ZENITH and CIRCUIT CITY.

Inexpensive. Features typically only available in more expensive models. Has DVD logo on front to impress your visitors who do not read this page.

Noted firmware problems. Sometimes slow between layer changes. Slow start-up. Really poor remote design; not very intuitive. Auto shut-off kills marker search memory and kills the units memory of where you left off in the movie. At least a VHS restarts where you left off. Now I have to remember exactly what chapter I was on when I fell asleep the night before. Inconvenient.

I purchased mine from Mercata. Good price. Shipped quickly. I checked with Zenith to see if they could tell me what version of firmware it had. They told me the seller would know. Mercata did not know. Checked with Zenith again, they could not identify firmware version by serial number or by manufacture date. I had some minor problems, so I brought it in to their Lombard, IL service center for upgrade. They turned it around in 24 hours for pick-up. I have had few problems since then, except last night. I played Three Kings and could not access any of the special features such as directors comments, etc. Don't know if this was a problem with the disk or with the player.

I got my 2200 in December, 1999 and I use it regularly. I paid $185 for it. The picture and sound are pretty damn good for such a cheap unit. Using the remote and some of the setup menus really sucks though. I don't use many of the features because it is just too hard to remember how to use them. I've probably played around 50 movies on the machine and have only had one movie skip on me; the Matrix.

For a cheap unit, I'd say it performs well and has a rich set of features (mentioned elswhere on this page). It could use an optical digital output though. Overall, I'm pleased with the machine. I'm glad I read this page as I will contact Zenith and have them update my firmware! Thanks for the info and contact numbers...

Anyone with problems about this DVD Player better read and follow my review of 5/16. Chances are your problems will be solved!
