Strength:

Great Sound

Weakness:

Don't know yet

Just bought the Kenwood HTB-502 2 days ago. It's my first purchase of any type audio package and my first listening of what home digital sound has to offer.

I bought the product blindly without even hearing the thing in the showroom. Smacked down $800 (Canadian) and took it home.

Last night I listened to the Scream 3 DVD.

THE SOUND WAS AMAZING!!! Better than I ever imagined.

I am now addicted to this machine and fear that I will never leave my house again.

Will post again after I've actually used the Kenwood HTB-502 more, but my first experience with home theatre has been a great one and now I basically want to live my life in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround.

Strength:

Excellent Sub, Easy to use, Lots of features

Weakness:

Wires..

I purchased the HTB-502 xmas 1999, a gift to myself. I got it at CC for $599.00..THIS SYSTEM KICK ASS....I setup the system in a room that is 23ft x 17ft with 10ft volume ceiling. I was a bit concern that the Sub would not fill the room, but i was dead wrong..I placed the sub in a corner for maximum effect. In DD/DTS Mode, you will not find a better sounding amp out of a box for $599.00, than this Kenwood system. For music, i connected another set of JBL full range speakers to the B channel output and crank it up. Play all day...no tripping or overheating...You would be crazy not to purchase this system if you are on budget or just looking for the best bang for your buck.

Strength:

Price & kick ass subwoofer!

Weakness:

Cheap wires

Talk about best bang for your buck. This system kicks wicked ass! After reading all of the great reviews on this system I just had to get one of my own. Having never heard true surround sound, hearing this system at the store pleasantly surprised me. I happened to get a sweet deal by slapping on some charm and got to walk home with this baby for $427 (ooh yeah, it pays to be a cute girl). Once you toss out the cheap packaged wire, this system will get the job done... and very nicely too! I was skeptical about the whole 'home theater' craze. But after purchasing the Toshiba TN50X81 RPTV and coupling it with this system, all skepticism flew out the window. Buy it and enjoy!

Strength:

Review made by previous members on this site.

Weakness:

the way the speakers look

based on the reviews, i decided to check out this system. i could only find the htb-503, so i hope this is the same "kick ass" model. please somebody tell me it is! anyways, i just ordered it and hope for the best. its for my girlfriend. she wants bang for the buck. this was the best thing i could find in this price range. i wanted to go for the take5 w/sub but then she would need to get a reciever and that would just put her over her limit. btw, how does this system compare to a general take5 sytem? i have a higher end system where my speaker cost more then this entire HTiB, but i hope that i will be impressed nonetheless.
