Can somebody tell me whether it will be good to use Playstation2 as the DVD player for the HTB-503 Home theater system.
I have a PS@ and I also use it as a DVD player. So do I have to buy another DVD player for my Home theater or the sound effect will be same with the PS2...

Strength:

Receiver (VR407) is awesome... easy to configure once you get the hang of it. Lots of inputs. Lots of power, 500 watts (100x5). Subwoofer is unbelievable.

Weakness:

Wires suck! Speakers. The remote is flimsy waste of plastic. Controlling the receiver is VERY unidirectional. I seem to only be able to control it if I am pointing the remote right at the receiver.

Let me tell you, for the value, this system absolutely kicks ass. The receiver is VERY easy to use. Setup is quite easy. Lots of inputs. The receiver remembers your settings for the different input methods... very nice.

The shipped wiring sucks -- but whose don't?. Go buy a $50 set of Monster cables. The remote sucks -- but whose don't?. The speakers aren't great, but considering what you are spending, who cares? The sound is still VERY GOOD. The subwoofer itself is amazing. I rented Armageddon on DVD and almost knocked the pictures off of my walls. The low frequency effects that come out of this subwoofer are incredible.

If you've been looking at Bose, or other cube-speaker systems, don't waste your time. This Kenwood HT package sounds better than any $2000 Bose system I listened to.

Great value, altogether. Performance is very good. Receiver is awesome. Subwoofer kicks major ass. Go buy it.

Strength:

price for the performance, reciever and sub

Weakness:

Remote Control Design

Ounce for ounce this out performed anything I heard in the store in it's price class, and sounds even better in my living room.

I would like to add a special thanks to all who previous reviewed the HTB-503 for the tips on the speaker settings. Setting the front speakers to normal and killing the B speakers was great advice. Also placement of the sub really makes a difference and I found that the corner behind the TV provides the best bass response.

My only quibble with the system is the remote control, which in a darkened room I continually find myself holding it upside down, trying to fiddle with those tiny buttons. Remote seems to have been designed for the fingers of a child.

All in all, an excellent value, especially for the reciever and sub. A great unit to build upon.
