this system is ideal for someone who likes movies but isnt concerned with music. For $1000 its a good setup for the $$. however If you love music, run to da border. The system playing music sounds very fatiguing!!!!! you cant wait turn it down! movies are fun with big booms when called for. the sub has NO pitch but booms during movies. annoyingly the rteceiver constantly trips its relays everu time it goes in then out of dolby digital. This is no problems watching movies. However if you watch tv its terrible. Not only are a lot of tv show in DD 1/2 of adds switch back and forth tripping the relays.. im most likely being too critical but the system is one dimensional, ok with movies and makes the ears bleed with music. you do get 7 speakers and sub that are THX certified and so is the receiver(not too impressed with thx anymore). Music is truthfully awefull. very edgy. the music is not relaxed.. if movies are your thing and less so with music it'd hard to beat for the money. Unfortunately I'm into music a lot as a preforming musician. if you want new DVD movies go for it but if you love music run away
